They don't use them, but if someone typed in the right combination of words, they can provide a link to your pictures, and there's nothing illegal about it because YOU put them online.

Are you actually reading anything anyone says here? There is nothing illegal about providing a LINK to where an image is posted online. If you post your images on Flickr, it is completely legal for any search engine to provide links to your page there.

What YOU are talking about is actually using an image, as in taking it from wherever the creator posted it and putting it somewhere else. Completely different. THAT is when copyright applies.

Copyrighted? Yes, but there is a "Fair use" statute that allows you to link to them or use scaled down images like Google does when you do a search.

So I can take one of your copyrighted pictures, shrink it down to thumbnail size and link it back to the site it's posted on... All without breaking copyright laws... do you understand now?
