I could of used it something like that down here for my first child's birth instead of paying over 3K to the hospital for shit my insurance company should of covered.
When Dominic was born I was covered under the COBRA version of the military insurance, and I don't remember having to pay a single cent :dunno

Good on ya, Codrus. Live within your means, take care of yourself, and build a big emergency fund. You'll be fine. Even if you're not, you can always avoid responsibility with that fine old American tradition of filing for bankruptcy.

BTW (to anyone), which part of the US Constitution gives Congress responsibility for the nation's healthcare?

Actually, the reason for most bankruptcies in the United States is due to issues with healthcare.

do you have facts to back that up? what i have researched is that debt is the #1 cause for bankruptcies in the US. like spending way more than you make, racking up credit cards, etc

You do realize that your child's birth was paid for by a government run program.... Hmmm, interesting

I say fuck the public option. All congress has to do is pass one very simple one sentence bill to fix the problem... Make it a felony to profit off of basic health care, period.

:willy_nilly::24::24::willy_nilly: And how many doctors, pharmacists, and hospitals do you think would be left?

How about research & development? I'm sure that'll be a booming industry as well?? :willy_nilly::24::24::willy_nilly:

This is what we're in for.

"He was admitted to a London hospital in May but died after doctors refused to give him a liver transplant amid fears he would not stay sober for six months after the operation. "

... "The NHS Blood and Transplant service said Mr Reinbach's case highlighted the dilemma faced by doctors because of a shortage of donated organs.

'They have to make tough decisions about who is going to get the benefit and who is going to take best care of this precious gift,' the NHS said.

I wonder if anyone else matched the liver. Livers regenerate, so more than one person can benefit from a donor.

Show me where this will actually happen. This is nothing more than talking points at this time. This is nothing more than the right (funded by special interest groups) trying to scare the people into staying with the staus quo. The insurance industry is positioned to loose billion if not trillions in profits so they are willing to invest as much money as it takes to spread as much misinformation as they need to turn everyone against their best interests.

In my area we have some of the best hospitals in the world. Thomas Jefferson University hospital, University of Pennsylvania, Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia CHOP, Hahnemann University Hospital, Temple University Hospital, etc. Most, if not all of the ones named above are non profit hospitals and I can tell you that they have some of the best talent in the world practicing cutting edge medicine. They are not hurting for money in the least while paying some of the top salaries.
Apparently you are not familiar with what a non profit hospital means.

We have this in the US right now... If I'm an alcoholic, my insurance company will NOT pay for me to get a liver transplant. If I was over 58, my insurance company would refuse to pay for a heart stint. And the list goes on and on and on.... what makes you think we can get these services here in the states with private insurance? That's one of the major problems we have right now. People getting denied service/payment for needed services. What's the difference between the bureaucrat sitting behind the desk at your insurance company and one sitting behind a government desk?

Yet another straw man argument....

In the current system there is no average family who has enough money set aside to deal with a major health issue without an insurance plan. Accountable, you have health insurance?

For profit corporations decided on a daily basis who will live and die, and if anyone does not think the "profit consideration" is not involved in the decision is kidding themselves. Yes there is reasonable vs unreasonable options. The question is how high do you want profits to be the determining factor?

No, I don't want profits in the equation. But I damn sure don't want the federal government in the equation either.

Without any confidence in government, and the way greed is running rampant in corporate brains, you've got no options.

You have a point, but the lesser of two evils is still evil. I would fully support a logical plan that doesn't grotesquely expand our government and add massive debt to our already tenuous budget. There is a problem, and it does need to be fixed. But the current method they're proposing is not the way to do it.

Check this out:

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Senate will not vote on health care reform legislation before the August congressional recess, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday.

No health care vote before August break, top Democrat says - CNN.com

But they worked through the weekend to pass the 'bailouts' last year. Without even taking the time to read exactly what they were signing..

These guys work for who again?:24:

Cuz vote-fraud seems here to stay which gives them license to not really care what their employers (We The People) think cuz their jobs are secure. With that hefty benefits package and generous raises whenever they feel like it.
