Sadly, that technique has proven effective in the past........ Politicians count on that.

You got tons of bubba's who have aligned themselves with a party who is outright hostile to them on most of the issues that define their quality of life. Mostly it's because they can't see beyond their guns, their religion, and their hate of the big bad Federal Government. Apparently it's ok if their heros want to be running that government on behalf of large corporations and board rooms who view them as nothing more than pawns who prop up a system that could care less about them as people. As long as you know your place, you'll get a big thumbs up from the Republicans.

Well Tim I love the fact how people who legitimately are protesting at town hall meetings are being demonized. Why is it so hard to believe that it along with the tea party stuff is people on their own actually speaking out of their own concerns. Come on Tim do you really think it is only the right that follows the talking points? You liberals have all your stuff down to a science also. It does not mean we are sheep any more than it means your side are sheep.

If it will make you feel better though I could change my avitar :D

The intent of those people is to shut down discussion, not use the democratic process to debate an issue. The Republican party is notorious for sending out paid participants to shut down the primary process this country is supposed to stand for. That is why they should be demonized, because they want their say, but don't want anyone else to get one.

The vast majority of every day citizens should want UHC, versus having NOTHING or something they can't afford. Hopefully the majority will wake up in time to get this done.

I read a decent article by a guy with a quick comparison of some Euro plans. I kind of like the Swiss version.

Some of the protesters are idiots with the way they are acting. No disputing that. But don't try and tell me only the reps do this shit. Both parties do it.

Some of the histrionics might be justified though given how the dems want to ram this down our throats without debate. That is idiotic. You don't go into something so massive that will have an impact for ever this way. I would think even a supporter like you should be ashamed at the process.

I agree with you that this needs to be done right and with plenty of discussion. This is not something that should be run rough shot through the middle of the night... but the reality is, if this went before the American people and we took our time trying to get it right, it would NEVER happen. The special interest groups and those in their pockets would spin this as the spawn of satan. It would never get a chance since people are stupid and public opinion will go down the tubes with a few good talking points thrown at them day after day. The reality is, if you want something done, you need to ram it through in the middle of the night before the spin machine gets its claws into it. Hell, if the spin machine can convince 2/3rds of the republicans that Obama might not be American, they can do anything... like I said, people are stupid

So it needs to be done right but simply can't and thus we should just shut up and BOHICA ??

The Senate is supposed to deliberate which was intended to slow down the process. Instead they are a bunch of drooling lapdogs.

There is no debate. The dems are gonna pretend they have been open or they will whine the reps are just obstructionists. Meanwhile some people who want to see reform but not a bullshit takeover by an incompetent govt.

The Swiss require everybody be covered and everybody pays for their own. Those who need it get subsidies. There is no public plan in competition.

Here is the story I read about it where it briefly compared some Euro plans.

You claim to be a constitutionalist, but I don't remember you making these kinds of arguments when Republicans were running the show. For example when Bush started giant hand outs to investment banks, I don't remember you sputtering that it was not in the Constitution. Of course I could be remembering incorrectly.
If you'll notice, I didn't even join here until December, after the election. Bush had done most of his damage by then (except for the going away present he gave AIG & the banks). I checked. the posts I made about republicans were almost universally negative. I hold no love for them. If you'll think back, I've said several times that there's no difference between the parties.

To help you out, I did a search of all my posts about republicans, in the three forms I can think of that I use. It's not that many posts. Feel free to fix your incorrect remembering.

At least we agree that no body should be rabble-rousing with the intent to end discussion. So the yellers and screamers should be demonized.

I think they should be handled as rude idiots. Not sure if that requires demonizing. Just remove them from the room for being disorderly.
