What is it with people dressing up as a character to go and see this film? I dressed up as a character to go and see Schindlers List when it was released and everyone just thought I was some kind of sick weirdo.

I can't rep you but that made me laugh loads :24::24:
I remember when I went to see Twilight at the cinema. The girls sat infront were all dressed up in Team Edward T-Shirts and body glitter. My friends and I really took the piss out of them and the film.

I really dunno. With major things like Harry Potter I guess it's to be expected with the level of fandom it's achieved. But dressing up as a character for Schindler's List? Pardon me saying that does sound weird to dress up as a character from a World War II movie.
If you were devoted to the story it was not "too" boring.
==SPOILER ALERT==
I saw it last night and was pleased. However my suggestion to the director was
Voldemort and Harry's wand duel, Voldemort should have been beating Harry down more, when Nevil leaps up and cuts off Nigini's head saving the day...
This is what I remember from the book,
Nevil saves the day more or less.
Now I have read all the books, but it's been a while. Can someone remind me
all of the horcrux's hold parts of Voldemort's soul. So was the idea that he, himself carried no part of his soul so when the snake, (the last horcrux) was killed, it destroyed him?

I had heard they were going to change Neville's roll in the end and make it Harry.wtf:
I'm glad they didn't as Neville's roll was quite karmatically poignant  Heck, I still get choked up when I think about it :ninja

I just finished rereading the 7th book last night, so here's what I remember.
In the book, Harry's "duel" with Voldemort entails Harry doing a lot of talking to prove to Voldemort why he is going to beat him, why he didn't die when Riddle cast the killing curse on him in the forest, and why he can kill him.
This kind of answers both of your questions.
Neville killed the snake before the duel. The reason Harry and Voldemort could never kill each other was because when Voldemort took Harry's blood to remake himself in the graveyard at the end of the fourth book, he put the protective enchantment into his body that was also in Harry. So, despite the fact that the enchantment wore off when Harry came of age, it was actually still protecting him because Voldemort had kind of renewed the enchantment. However, when Voldemort "killed" Harry in the forest, he removed the enchantment from both of them, thus making him vulnerable to death. Having no more horcruxes, and the Elder Wand actually belonging to Harry, when Voldemort cast the killing curse again in their duel, it rebounded, just like it did all those years ago when Harry was a baby, thus killing him.
In my opinion, the way this goes down in the book would have been a much more interesting way to end than the movie...it explains more, I think.
Phew. That was a long answer. Hope you got enough infos!
ended up going to see the 3D version with my 9 year old niece...I actually didn't fall alseep in ths one...tho I did drift off from time to time...but I think it was a good way to tie everything together involving Harry (especailly one scene that I don't wanna spoil for the select few who haven't seen it) and I think it was a nice way to end the series...
saw a couple of teens dresed up as the various characters of the book...beats the hell outta me who all of them were lol...I do have all of the hardcover books except the last one in air tight bags...I'm a collector of all things collectible at heart lol
really something how they have been doing this for over a 10 year period...these were children at teh age of 1 or so when they started making films out of these books...and now they're all in their early and almost mid 20's... it's like watching a televsion series and watching the people behind these characters grow up right before your very eyes...
