By all indications McCain is a hothead and he's aligned himself with Republican policies I disagree with. Senator Deregulator became Senator Regulator last week. And my impression of him is that he still thinks in Cold War terms instead of looking to the future. Obama's message is more consistent and concise. As far as foreign policy, Bill Clinton had very little but he has talent with people (in more ways than one ;) and with little foreign experience was very successful). Obama is smart, thoughtful, and a people person. I have confidence he has greater skills in foreign relations than McCain ever will.

If you feel like it please post some of the Chicago dirt from other than rabid Republicans. :)
Bill Clinton wasn't very successful in foreign policy or looking to the future when he was handed Bin Laden on a silver platter and decided not to go after him, now was he?

Bin Laden was on a silver platter? Btw, foreign policy is more than being tough militarily. The Bush Administration has clearly demonstrated that being tough in itself can be a disaster especially when you have to make up shit to get the country into a war.

bill clinton got where he got cuz he was charismatic
and a ladie's man
not cuz he was a political genius.

Being a ladies man traditionally does not do much for you in the realm of politics. Most of the power brokers have traditionally been men. Plus he had the Republican's nashing their teeth for 8 years. Only a genius could accomplish that. ;)

Yes, and it's unfortunate that Bush Sr. laughed at Ollie North when he presented him as a threat in the first place. You can go back and forth all day long as to who was really to blame. At the very least Clinton will admit his biggest failing was not getting Bin Laden. Bush Jr. has had an additional 8 years...where's Bin Laden? Right...Bush Jr. won't even admit we're in a recession. :24:

That was my point...you can go back to the crossing of the Mayflower if you want to...the point is, what has happened in the here and now...and clearly from this thread you can tit for tat back and forth all you want pointing fingers at who did what and who didn't. For those that are the believers in this administration, the opinion won't change...for those that aren't...same result. It's just fun to debate it from your point of view.

and PS: IMHO we should have finished what we started in Afghanistan before fucking off to Iraq...remember...we trained and armed the Taliban too to help us fight the Russians. :p Oh what a tangled web we weave...

Are you too young to remember his rise to power? Post Iran hostage situation that Jimmy Carter totally fucked up, or rather didn't do anything about?

Hussein had little if any millitary experience, but he knew his was around a board room, so we basically supported his rise, both financially and with training to put pressure on Iran who at that time, was a far worse threat than anyone elses on the planet, other than possibly The Soviets.

i don't remember his rise to power at all.
i've just seen the infamous pic of saddam and rummi
there is just something wrong about that.
i'm big on human rights
i don't support the death penalty
i have a big issue that with all the security around some asshole just happened to be able to get that all on his camera phone.
compare those images to the pics during his rise - it makes my stomach turn.

Wookie the point Tim had been trying to make is that the money Obama received for donations came from Fannie Mae employees' personal accounts, not the Fannie Mae corporate account.

These donations were from the private individuals who worked for Fannie Mae, even if the CEO donated money, it was from his personal account, not the corporate account.
