What do you think about gay marriages? Should a gay couple have the same rights as a straight couple?

Indeed, they are a couple and their union means nothing less than the one of a straight couple in my book.
Of course they should have the same rights! Anyone who wants to take the rights of someone just because they are doing things they don't like can go jump off a cliff.
Then why do so many people get bent out of shape about the whole deal?

Polite version: People are misguided and undereducated.
Not so polite: Some people are simply undereducated but the rest are ignorant assholes who couldn't see common sense if it french kissed them.
I honestly don't understand the problem. So many people get bent out of shape in regards to this subject. I personally don't think it's anyone elses business what someone chooses to do with their personal life.
It's really not but some people continue to insist that it is their business to make sure everyone has to follow the rules they see as "right". It's stupid and ridiculous but so are people.

How refreshing to see everyone agree that there is nothing wrong with Gays getting married and that Gays getting married doesn't hurt anyone AND doesn't affect any Straight person's life.
On another forum I belong to, there are a few that are adament about their beliefs that it is "immoral," "perverted," "against god's words," "how do I explain IT to my children?!!," and "ruins the sanctity and tradition of marriage."

Yes. No human should take/lessen the rights of another human just because they think it's wrong. However, I do not define it as marriage. I see it as an "unholy alliance," but that's just me.

Do my formerly religious beliefs count? They haven't changed. Never saw a problem with being gay or homosexual marriage, despite being raised in a baptist atmosphere.
I do not support gay marriage in the U.S.

My problem is with those that would deny certain people "Rights" based on religious beliefs, nothing more.
I was also raised Southern Baptist and believe that it is great when people in any society can just love one another. We have so much fighting and hate in the world and it's sad. Who do they hurt?
If a straight couple that you don't know gets a divorce....does that hurt you? Then why should it hurt you when a gay couple chooses to be together?
