Like I said - I don't understand how anyone qualifies.
I could tell you, but it'd start a whole new argument.

I'm just saying you can't base the whole system on how it is in one small area of the US.um .. this whole thread is about the US, is it not .. so I don't quite get your point.

You have to be under a certain income bracket. I think it varies from state to state. The welfare system here in AZ does not work. I don't know how anyone qualifies for it.
When my husband was unemployed a few months back, we applied for food stamps and assistance of any sort and we were not approved for anything. I don't know how worse off you can get than to not have any money coming in. (other than unemployment, which here in this state is nothing basically - it would not even cover our mortgage) I guess they want you to sell your car or your home or something, but I fail to see how that is going to put food on your table TODAY???!!!
I just praise God for His provision. We had so many friends give us food and money that my DH and I actually had money left over. I wanted to give whatever was extra back to my friends, but they said 'no, take it and go out to eat with your husband - celebrate that new job he is going to get'. I mean I am talking thousands of dollars given, not lent to us, in order for us to survive those 2 months DH was out of work. That is the love of God working through people. We had so many people praying for us, I literally felt like I was being lifted to the heavens. What a humbling & loving & growing experience.
Then the door that opened for my DH was a job with a Christian company with an increase in pay and wonderful benefits.
I feel bad for the people here in AZ that fall on hard times. Like I said - I don't understand how anyone qualifies.
what bracket does .. not bringing in a dime fall under? You have to be under a certain income bracket. I think it varies from state to state.
That is exactly why we need more, efficient social programs. Trust me, if we had anything like the system Scandinavian countries have, you and your family would have been taken care of like *that*.I'm not trying to argue, just sharing my experience.
I found it disheartening when hard working people fell on hard times that the system which was suppose to be in place for that type of thing totally failed us.
It just all backwards like the rest of this world's values.
But like I said - we were provided for.
I'm just saying you can't base the whole system on how it is in one small area of the US.
Do you mean people that don't work at all, or people that have a crappy job?what bracket does .. not bringing in a dime fall under?
Yes, but to different degrees. I just don't really buy the whole "people are poor because they are lazy" argument.I'm not the only person who sees this happeneing .. it's a common problem across the US.

They probably base the monetary bracket that you have to qualify for after the fiscal year. She said her husband lost his job .. that = no income .. and they wouldn't give them anything.
Did you even read the link I provided for that argument? Its bunk. Then you are hopefully misguided.
You know what, I had another friend say that to me too. And I was just thinking that can't be it?! I mean really, good Lord! But after what happened or should I say didn't happen with us, maybe it is true. Pretty sad.check your rep hun
Ok, but until you find me some official figures or something what you say is purely opinion. It is sad, but I am 99.6% sure .. it's a fact these days.
I'm not gonna state an opinion here for the better sense I have than to do so .. but I can tell you .. it doesn't "work" that way for "everyone" .. and I know this for a fact.
