Do you think the problem would be resolved by giving these people more or less money? Because those seem to be the only two options. It will always be difficult for one agency to regulate, no matter what resources they have at their disposal.
The problem would be solved if they system solved this problem.

But, they should be given enough money to live off of, and things should be in place to help them find a better paying job to get them OFF of welfare. Welfare should be only temporary until you find a better job, if possible.

Or not if long term sickness is involved.;)

This is from one of AEF's links.

"Social Security is the nation's largest welfare program, although many Whites prefer to call it a retirement plan. The government writes retirement and disability benefit checks to 35.4 million recipients of whom 88.7 percent are White and 9.6 percent are Black.

How exactly is SS welfare? You have to pay in to collect, unless you're a minor who has lost a parent or you've been widowed. In either case a loved one paid the money in. Welfare is something for nothing. That entire article was very slanted against whites and our "assumptions".

Last night I was at WalMart in the check out and there was a family of 5 (they were Hispanics) in front of me checking out with a basketfull of groceries. The mom, dad, and 3 kids were dressed exceptionally nice. The mom even had on a fur coat and was talking on the cell phone (none of which I could understand, it was in spanish). Anyways, the cashier told them their total price and I seen her pull out a food stamp card and she swiped it thru the card reader. (I guess food stamp reciepents are allowed so much a month to spend on groceries?) Because after she used the card, the cashier told her her remaining balance. When at that point, she pulled out an envelope and pulled out a wad of 100 dollar bills.
This is what I dont understand. The family could afford to dress exceptionally well, have a wad of 100 dollar bills but still gets approved for food stamps. Am I missing something here?
Ever heard of working under the table? Lot's of mexican's work without paying taxes .. you'd be amazed at how much extra money you have if you don't fork your share over to Uncle Sam. rolleyes2.gif

Welfare is anything the government does to help its citizens out financially, in a broad sense.

"Although many whites prefer to call it a retirement plan" :wtf:

What do blacks call it when they pay into it? I don't see where they're going with it. It is a retirement plan, albeit a poor one. Welfare is charity, SS is not. Not worth the effort to argue over but their not making much sense to me. If the government provided SS benefits to people rather than people paying in first I could agree with them but that isn't the case.

Welfare isn't charity. its money given to you by the government, like SS.

Welfare and SS are nothing alike. Each taxpayer pays into SS .. we have to wait until a certain age to re-collect it. It's like a 401k run by the government.

Welfare is taken from the tax payers and given to those who will not take care of themselves. I know some people need welfare .. but 80% could get off their lazy asses and find a job just like the rest of us have.

Welfare is abused more than it is used correctly. They need a system that actually monitors the users of welfare .. instead of letting them just get comfortable with being taken care of and never try to help themselves.

Because I live in Birmingham, AL and I see it ALL around me. AL is by far one of the poorest states in the nation .. and do you know why? Because a vast majority of it abuses such systems .. and will not work and therefore do not pay taxes .. which are what keeps a state running.

It's so bad 1/2 of our city schools either are already or are about to close their doors from lacks of funding .. because the funding is going towards "other" programs .. such as welfare. Our welfare systems is overrun with lazy degenerates that need to get out and find a job .. that there are PLENTY of.

We do Toys For Tots .. the warehouse is right down the street from my office.

They started handing out toys to the needy families .. you should have seen the parade of escalades, Cadillacs, BMW's, and all sorts of other expensive cars .. full of people dressed to the 9's .. grabbing armful's of toys .. that they did not need or deserve.

The welfare system here in AZ does not work. I don't know how anyone qualifies for it.

When my husband was unemployed a few months back, we applied for food stamps and assistance of any sort and we were not approved for anything. I don't know how worse off you can get than to not have any money coming in. (other than unemployment, which here in this state is nothing basically - it would not even cover our mortgage) I guess they want you to sell your car or your home or something, but I fail to see how that is going to put food on your table TODAY???!!!

I just praise God for His provision. We had so many friends give us food and money that my DH and I actually had money left over. I wanted to give whatever was extra back to my friends, but they said 'no, take it and go out to eat with your husband - celebrate that new job he is going to get'. I mean I am talking thousands of dollars given, not lent to us, in order for us to survive those 2 months DH was out of work. That is the love of God working through people. We had so many people praying for us, I literally felt like I was being lifted to the heavens. What a humbling & loving & growing experience.

Then the door that opened for my DH was a job with a Christian company with an increase in pay and wonderful benefits.

I feel bad for the people here in AZ that fall on hard times. Like I said - I don't understand how anyone qualifies.
