Yes, Kevin I'm aware of what Agnostic means. So yes, I'm uncertain of what I truley WANT to believe.

I want to believe there is a God because

1. I believe that there is some good in everybody.
2. I believe that there is a place and a purpose for everybody.
3. I believe that there is intelligent life on other planets solely because this universe is TOO large to just house us... if that can be true, then something or someone HAD to have created this.


I don't want to believe there is a God because

1. Bad things ALWAYS happen to good people - It's the ultimate punishment. Just read the story about Job in the Bible.
- if you believe in god you cant assume you know what is really good and bad. what you think is horrible may be great. if it rains, the baseball game is delayed but the corn gets watered.. get the idea?

2. People who do bad things are usually punished by MANs laws, not Gods laws.
- same deal.

3. I've never connected to God the way others seem to have been able to do.
-not a reason to believe or not

4. I've never caught a break in my life. I don't do drugs, I fly straight and narrow, and I've always tried to be honest. Yet things bite me in the ass, and I don't believe in Fate.

-god isnt there to give people breaks. and you dont need to beleive in fate to believe in god

5. I was FORCED into church as a child. If I didn't go for a service on Sunday, I was grounded for that week. I felt that I was forced to believe in something I couldn't and really didn't want to understand. You've had that feeling before. The feeling of things being shoved down your throat with a spoon full of sugar.

- again, not a reason to believe or not. do your own research if you want, but dont blame your parents

6. I've been deceived before.

- true,.... but fun doesnt always equal right

8. God loves you, but you must repent before you can reap the benefits of His love. Yet He throws all these temptations at you expecting you to lead the life He wants, even though he already knows WHAT you're going to do before you're born.
- temptations, yeah. but again, you dont have to belive that you have no free choice. there are ways to resolve that issue, quite easily actually.

The questions and the list under not wanting to believe is far greater than the reasons for wanting to believe for me. But I won't deny the possibility of his existance.

Now this is a good debate question...Me, I used to believe that there was a God, here the past few years, I have been leaning further away form beleiving there is a God. I have done my homework, learning about different religions, Baptist, Cathlic, Jewish, Wiccan, Paganism, and I have chosen not to believe in a God. I do believe there are forces in this universe in which we have yet to understand, but for there to be a All mighty, Immortal, all powerful being that winked everything in to existance, I do not think so...

Personally, I'm a cynic. I believe religion is a crutch for people unable to accept responsibility for their own lives, or people who need hope from an outside source. I don't care about after I die, I'm here now.

i wonder what happens after death. but then i realize ive just wasted just that much amount of time instead of doing something productive in this life.

is there a god? thats the reason for this topic. its debatable... not solvable. thats what debates are for. good topics to discuss. to help people understand each other.

as to me, as i probably stated earlier, or if not ( im not looking to see really ), to me..

i dont believe in a/the "god" in the current state that society defines...

I'm not debating religion. Organized religion is the first and foremost thing that absolutely and completely pisses me off.

I'm not debating religion. Organized religion is the first and foremost thing that absolutely and completely pisses me off.

no offense taken, i know youre one of the people here that usually doesnt say things just to be a jerk

the reason i said some of those things is becasue i happen to be a fairly religion person myself so there are many of the same questions ive had, yet im pretty comfortable with my beliefs. but im not gonna force a discussion

Not to get off topic, but, here's a question to test if you have a killers mentality... if you give the answer that will be revealed down the bottom, honestly, no offence ment, i dont belove that there is good in you. And by the way: dont think about this question before you answer it, just say what comes into your mind first...

A womans mother was killed in a car accident. When she is at the funeral she see's this really amzing guy, just with one look at him, she knows that he is her one and only perfect life partener. Whilst at the funeral, she cannot pluck up the courage to go and speak to him. So she leaves thinking that she will never see him again. Three weeks later, she murders her sister, why?

Sycyatrists (or however you spell it) ask people that verry question to see if they have a killers mentality. according to where i heard about this, almost every single serial killer that was asked that question answered that without thinking about it.

I don't get why someone who would kill for love doesn't have any good in them. Just because they're psychotic doesn't mean they're the devil.

I can see why some people would say that...
i mean they're not the devil, but kill your own sister just to see someone that you've never even spoken to... i mean what if they're married? what if they're gay? what if they dont come to the funeral? what if they turned out to be real ass holes? what if they were repists? what if they were prison escapee's? i know that wouldnt be the case with most people, but also, if she isnt causght by the time of the funeral, if she does end up together with this guy, what if he leaves her when she does get causet for killing her sister?

If any of these things happen, she killed for absolutely nothing...

I sort of aggree with him, if you actually did that, then i do belive theres no or extremely little good in you... but if you just answer the wrong thing, that doesnt mean to say that you would actually do that... or that there is no good in you...

but as i said before, *if* you actually did do that then there is no or extremely little good in you in my opinion...

Most people that believe in God its as simple as that just a blind "yep" I personally find that very hard to do. I cant blindly just believe in something. If someone is going believe in something they cant smell, taste, see, or feel, then it cant be explained well enuff for someone who doesnt believe to understand. Is God a man with great powers....nope...I dont believe so. Is there something else out there that we cant even begin to fathom....yep

Belief in God is alot like believing in UFO'S Nobody has 100% proof that UFO'S exist and No one has ever Seen God on this Earth.
But you take it on faith and believe or not believe.
I for one do not belive in E.T.'s or UFO'S, I KNOW THEY EXIST.

I don't have faith in anything which has not earned it. I have faith in myself, because I know what I can and cannot do. I have faith in Franklyn because I know what he is and is not capable of doing. I have faith in my children, because I also know their limitations and their talents to exceed and succeed.

There has been love proved to me from all of these people. I love myself, Franklyn loves me, my children loves me, and even my ex still has love for me. How do they prove it? That is personal for each, but it has been done. Has there been a deity to do the same? Absolutely not, as there are none for me.
