I was spanked but only when I really deserved it. And it wasnt spankings like I was being beat or anything. I learned my lesson for things I was spanked over. I know they never spanked me out of rage or anything, they were rational about it.
Ive never been in any acts of violence either nor arrested for anything either.

My mom was a nutcase who shouldn't have had kids. In my case, I was not a well behaved child, because she playes favorites with her kids, I was not her favorite.
My killing the fish, her houseplants, and imposing ghost threats on my younger sister whenever I could, certainly tested her patience. Her discipline tactics with my were yielded with any wooden cooking utensil available. Since I felt she hated me, I laughed while she smacked my bare ass with these spoons, which don't get me wrong, hurt like hell. Because of this, (or maybe it's just in my spirit anyway), I could never beat my kids, or even think of hitting them with an object. The thought of that makes me want to cry.

i was never spanked, slapped or grounded. i was put in timeouts but that was pretty much it. i have been arrested tho not for violence but for other things

whether or not it is right, i'm not sure, but i don't think spanking is bad if done in moderation. if you're leaving bruises on a kid, theres something wrong with that...but if its just enough to let them know they messed up, than it seems to be effective. you just don't want to raise your kid on fear alone, they need a little wisdom too. getting them to understand their actions is highly more important than demonstrating brute force

I never really got spanked. Or lectured. I always knew what i was doing was wrong. Them being disappointed in me was always worse than anything they could have done to me, and they knew it.

Uhuh they did, My parents beleived in punnishment for wrong doings, i used to hate them for it but understand now why they did it. If my brother or myself did something really wrong we were smacked with the strap, nine times out of ten i got out of the smacking however we were punnished accordingly to whatever we did wrong.
I have never been arrested for any crimes as an adult as a result of this. I think the closest i have come to police in any matter like that was because i was whitnessing something that was going on with someone else.
My father was always the one who disciplined us, and he was always calm never lost his temper with us, it made us realise we wouldnt do the same thing again or we would end up smacked again, it was a simple way to go about things before all the problems with spanking occured.
