Human beings did land on the moon, which (at our present level of wealth and technology) is one of the most useless places we could possibly be. It was yet another pork-barrel scheme to mulk the tax-payers for the advantage of a few aerospace companies and legions of incompetent bureacrats. Like all of NASA's money bonfires, it did nothing but divert resources from actual productive uses in extremely flashy firework shows to distract us from the government's murderous adventures abroad and dissent at home.

Would you like me to track down a list of technological advances we use in our every day lives that can trace their roots directly back to the space race?

You write with a 12th grade plus vocabulary, so I'm thinking you could probably find the information yourself, but I volunteer if you don't feel like it.

It's not my fault that you're trying to make empirical arguments for the logically impossible. Everyone sees the mylar that DID get made, but not all the things that didn't get made because people were robbed at gunpoint.

Empirical arguments for the logically impossible eh? Again, it sounds cool, but I'm not sure you have a grasp of your own vocabulary friend.

Life is not a zero sum game. The things that didn't get made during the "robbery at gunpoint" are literally all around you. The money that went into that R&D was pretty much printed for that very purpose. Under what circumstances do you feel the adjusted Billions of dollars would have gone into different forms of concentrated research, and furthermore how are you so sure that the scientific, societal, and medical advances would have been in any way superior?

I have not bothered to read this entire thread as I thought it was a joke.

I basically grew up at NASA. My Mom worked there when I was a kid.

That would be so cool. When I was a kid, I wanted my own cyclotron and wanted to work for the space program.

My dad worked for McDonnell-Douglas back then. He was an electrician, and one of the engineers let him see some of the work being done on one of the Eagle landers
