While you were gone, I visited Churchill, Canada (The polar bear capitol of the world) and saw polar bears in the wild.

Don't be diss'n on my bears!

Al Gore is a champion of Global Warming. As a former vice president I think he can move mountains to curtail global warming

Humans are the main cause yes, however the flashy camera you take your pictures on, the music you may listen to on your ipod, the microwave you use to zap your food to keep it warm, all a result of human technology, something has to fail in order for us to evolve into something greater... shit happens, by the time the ozone is well and truely fucked everyone i love will be long gone so i say suck it up and lets enjoy what we have left while we can :)

Yeah well, the sudden climate change could happen within the next 50 years, that will effect me and probably you too at least some people in your family and friends... Climate changes in the past have happened suddenly before, and with the rate we are going now, there is a very good chance the climate could shift suddenly and completely desabilize our country, severing relationships with other countries and sparking wars, etcetera.

That's us, too. Second-hand melting, they call it.

The fact that the atmosphere in mars is completely different or that it has a completely different distance from the sun doesn't have anything to do with it? What about the fact that it doesn't even have water?

How can you possibly compare the earth and mars!?

You can,

I wouldn't say that about Dt3 though, he seems to have like selective reading, where he only reads what he wants to hear, what agrees with him.
You're quick to accuse me of selective reading, but in the 10 pages of this thread you've never answered a post I made on the first page:
Here's my favorite point that I never hear raised. In the early 1990's, the USSR collapsed. Before that, they had hundreds of weather monitoring stations throughout the country, most of them in Siberia. Due to the resulting cash flow problem, they shut down those stations in one of the coldest regions on Earth. Giuess what happened? The average temperature soared!

Since 1990, world-wide, the number of weather stations has been cut over 50%. How does that affect the quality of new data? I would guess significantly.

Read page 5, then see the chart on page 6:
http://www.uoguelph.ca/~rmckitri/research/econ-persp.pdf

Now am I saying it doesn't exist? No. I'm saying I haven't seen enough proof that it's happening, much less that it's humankind's fault.
Of course the global average temperature is rising, we eliminated hundreds of monitoring stations in the coldest part of the world! :willy_nilly:

Here's another website you'll like, detailing the erroneous data given by our own weather monitoring stations:
Watts Up With That?: weather_stations Archives or Home

You think I read selectively, but you know nothing about me. I spent 5 years of my life working exclusively on weather equipment. Radars, satellite receivers, wind sensors, temperature sensors, you name it and I've fixed it. Doing this brought me in contact with literally hundreds of weather forecasters, observers, people with degrees in meteorology, and certified meteorologists. Not a single one of them that I've met believes in global warming. Believe me, they'll talk about it. But they all think it's garbage. So you're absolutely right that nothing you say will change my mind, because I've learned everything I know about global warming first-hand, speaking with experts in the field. And they disagree with the very basis of what you propose.
