All I have to say is "Kee$ha"

:joke:

Actually, it's Ke$ha. ;) Anybody else watch Glee??? I giggled everytime the principle called her "Key-dollar sign-ha." LOL

As for the joke, I've seen it before and it's mildly funny at best. I didn't find it racist, but I deal w/ enough stupid people of all races that speak in Ebonics that I wouldn't. Wow at the seriousness of this thread, though...way crazy.

And, for the record, I've been told many times that I have "a black girl's name."

She's got a video with that James Van Der Beek in it and he calls her the same thing! It shouldn't be so funny but it makes me laugh every time :24:

lol, someone said I had a black girl's name, too. Anastasia? really? It's Greek!! You can't get any more white than that!! lol

L0L....I agree that the Ebonics speaking blacks would mistake you guys to have a black girl's name. They dont go by the origin of the names but by how common those names are with them especially those ending in sha/sia :D

Chicago has tons of Ebonics speaking Blacks ;) 'Aight' ( alright ) :24:

To be fair, the people who were expecting me to be African-American were also basing that expectation off the fact that I had a kid when I was 20 and I'm not married and I'm attending community college.

I'm certain they're not the most intelligent people in the world. (the people making the judgement...just to be clear! lol)

Am sorry Ana, but I think am lost :willy_nilly:

I might be misconstruing what you're trying to say and i don't wanna do that :(

I didn't mean anything bad by what i posted juz agreeing to the fact of your names with Natasha being common names among the Ebonic speaking Blacks. I don't have anything against the blacks too as I have friends in that group hence me understanding their culture sort of. I was taught their way of speaking too when I lived in Chicago :)

So please enlighten me

They both sound Russian to me, especially Anastasia.

Russian and Greek are very similar languages because of their roots in Christian Orthodoxy, despite being from completely different families. It's something I've always found strange.

Anastasia sounds Russian to me, too. Especially because of the princess. :)

Then I went to church with my friend one time, who was Greek Orthodox, and almost every little girl in the preschool was named Anastasia. But I think they pronounced it differently than I do.
