I don't get how people would want to get cremated. It seems so freaking evil to me to have your body burned up to ashes. I think that it's best to leave the body to decompose naturally. What do you think of cremation? Would you ever consider doing it?

It depends on your outlook. A lot of ancient cultures would burn their dead to symbolize the passion and fury of the person's life, others would do it because they saw it as a cleansing. Either way, you're body will breakdown.

It started as an inside joke my bestfriend was going to carry me around in his pocket after I die then I looked into it and just thought it was cool

I don't think I want my body cremated afterall, it's more hazardous to the environment compared to being buried 6 feet under.

lol it's not about creepiness or anything...it's just that when you cremate the body, you're disrespecting it. It's like you're meddling with the whole natural body decomposition process.
I'm not sure how that is disrespect? I don't see how the rate of decomposition of a dead body has to do with anything.

You're dead. Who cares how your body decomposes? Theres one less grave you spent a fortune on and one less casket poluting the Earth.

I really don't care if I'm cremated, or buried in a plastic cup by the highway. How I spend my life is important, not how I spend death

Pretty much agree with Dana, I couldn't care less what happens to my body when I die. My country is crowded enough without another burial plot taking up more room and being cremated will relieve a bit of the financial burden of the cost placed on my family. Besides, you hear stories...I'd hate to accidently be buried alive, at least being quickly incinerated would give me a quick end if mistakes were made.:D

Well you're disrespecting the body by burning it and not letting it decompose in it's natural way.

Cremation= air pollution and wastes fuel and energy.

I want cremated, simply because I hate the cold and I dont like the idea of being buried in a dark cold hole in the ground and the thought of rotting away grosses me out.

I am a bit of a spiritualist and I have read that cremation helps the spirit to pass over more peacefully and quickly.

To be honest I dont like either cremation or burial, I wish there was a much more pleasant option but there is not.

Well you're disrespecting the body by burning it and not letting it decompose in it's natural way.

Have you thought about how embalming stops the natural rotting process of a dead body? What's the difference if you want to use cremation as an argument?

Cremation= air pollution and wastes fuel and energy.

Burial = waste of valuable land which could be used to place a homeless shelter upon.... or all the wood , metal and human resources used to make it. Once again, you could use those materials to build a homeless shelter.

There's a lot of wasted fuel involved in a funeral. Trucks bring the casket to the funeral home, all the vehicles involved to get the folks to the grave site. The list is endless.

Burials should be against the law. It just makes sense.

When I die, I won't be cremated. I'll be buried. That's my desire. What anyone else chooses to do is up to them.... if they left money behind to pay for it. If not, then it's up to their family.

Funerals are for the living!
