My Mum has always breastfed, but honestly I wonder if it's really appropriate in public.
All the same, I don't really have an opinion on it. If a mother is with her baby at a park, where's she supposed to go if the baby gets hungry? I'd say the level of appropriateness would vary according to where you were.
