Only on OTz can a Black Friday discussion turn into a political debate...followed by 2 grown men making absolute fools out of themselves. Although I do appreciate it just being 2 of you b/c it made it easy to see that this is, in fact, NOT the P&D section. :tooth

I need to make a return at Wal-mart and Target and thought "oh, I'll do that today"...then I realized it was Black Friday. I'll wait until next week. :24:

Anytime they provide services like that (most common is movie theaters and bars), it's as a "private contractor" and not on the police department's dime. Same w/ us when we work the fair. We are paid as a private contractor by the Fairgrounds, not by the Sheriff's Department.

I should also clarify that I'm not just talking out of my ass...I have to file my taxes for my fair work as an independent contractor and pay the taxes myself, because they don't take them out.

So this year was the REAL first year Canadian Stores had a big push for Black Friday..

The one guy buying a 55" LG LED TV wanted it delivered and installed for the extra $$ although he had just save the same amount he paid for the now extra he was paying to get the TV delivered and installed..

All I needed was a Gift Card so I was in an out, but I thought this was funny..

Do people really get that saving the $200.00 and spending $350.00 on delivery and installation sorta defeats the sale aspects of it.. I mean I usually get BestBuy to Deliver and install for $35.00 and they throw in extra cables and stuff.. When is a bargain no longer a bargain.. :willy_nilly:

We decided to go see if Wal-Mart had anything left tonight. It was busy there, but not a problem at all. I just went for some movies, but ended up with a new set of fleece pajamas for all of us (YES!!! I actually have a fleece set of PJ's woooot!), some insulated gloves for the boys, and some socks for the boys. We were out in about 45 minutes and most of that time was just because Michael and I were searching for a copy of the movie Gremlins and looking around at Christmas decorations.

Nope. Only affiliation w/ the Sheriff's Department is that we wear our uniforms. Pay is a flat rate of $10 for barricades or buildings and $20 for dispatch or barricades/buildings/concerts that require mandated officers.
