And completely irrelevant when considering giving money to the government ... unless you're giving reasons to not charge him higher taxes.

If the government got rid of the tax loopholes then the top earners would pay what they are supposed to, I think you have to read between the lines on this one. In regards to donating money to government there is no secure way to do, almost every nation in the world receiving money as a donation on government scale has major corruption issues the US would be no different the temptation would be to great IMOP

*Ahem*

How do I make a contribution to the U.S. government?

Citizens who wish to make a general donation to the U.S. government may send contributions to a specific account called "Gifts to the United States." This account was established in 1843 to accept gifts, such as bequests, from individuals wishing to express their patriotism to the United States. Money deposited into this account is for general use by the federal government and can be available for budget needs. These contributions are considered an unconditional gift to the government. Financial gifts can be made by check or money order payable to the United States Treasury and mailed to the address below.

U.S. Department of the Treasury

It's an interesting concept, gifting money to your government. Would people be better served gifting to a govt. than donating to a campaign? And would I ever consider gifting to my government?

The 800lb purple gorilla in the room is the fact that our government, and most western governments, are incredibly irresponsible with tax dollars and chaotically wasteful in their use. Okay, great, you've increased taxes more on the wealthy. You might as well flush it all down the toilet.

It goes on but is pretty frowned upon, remember all the hooha about Bernie Ecclestone giving a million quid or so to new labour when the got in, in 97.

This is right wing simpleton thinking. We are closing public schools, bailing out mega banks and fighting wars on borrowed money but we can't raise taxes on the wealthy to pay for it instead of borrowing more money.

How fucking stupid is that?

Classic Johnfromokc thinking: If someone's opinion makes me feel ooky on the inside, it is automatically "right wing simpleton thinking" when in truth it is not at all.

and thank goodness some public schools are closing they're hardly doing anything to begin with

there is no real point in raising taxes when it is all going to go to nefarious and wasteful things

Same old right wing shit. Can't raise taxes. Gotta cut spending blah blah blah. So how are we going to unspend all the money we borrowed for the wars and bailouts?

and thank goodness some public schools are closing they're hardly doing anything to begin with

I'm sure you're an expert in making that determination nationally since Rush Limbaugh said it. Yeah, yeah, yeah - we know you don't listen to right wing talk radio and came up with these talking points all by yourself. ;)

there is no real point in raising taxes when it is all going to go to nefarious and wasteful things

So in your right wing wisdom you think we should not raise taxes on the wealthy but keep on borrowing to pay for everything?

Uh, we *do* have to cut spending. I don't see the problem with cutting spending that is draining money away.

idk how many times I have to tell you man but I don't listen to conservative talk radio

I don't consider any of them to be real conservatives. They are neo-cons.

You could confiscate 90% of all wealth and we would still borrow money what are you talking about

Yes - we do have to stop fighting foreign wars and bailing out billionaires. Then the billionaires have to be taxed to pay for their wars that made them even richer.

Well, whatever your source of information is, it is the EXACT same talking points as conservobot radio and television.

Tomayto. Tomahto.

Yet another recycled talk-bot talking point that didn't come from talk radio.

The wealthy have to pay more alonside spending less on the military industrial complex. That is the only way we will ever pay the debt down. This bullshit of not raising taxes on the wealthy is a huge part of how we got here in the first place.

I'd rather look at cutting the stupid spending rather than finding ways to pay for stupid spending.
