That's my point. Only 2 parties receive any kind of funding to be recognized on presidential ballots. On a state level, all sorts of parties have a chance and even get elected to office. I don't like labels because they're rarely accurate. How many Republicans are conservative and how many Democrats are liberal? The lines are so crossed, why keep the title? Many people vote soley by party and have no idea what the man or woman even supports or opposes. I don't know what to propose. I only know the Republican/Democrat system is blurred, corrupt, and full of shit!

The Obama Administration has done such a terrible job. Let's get those Republican's back in charge. They knew how to handle the economy. ;)

The September jobs report was just released and demonstrates that America is on a far slower path to recovery than anyone originally predicted. Despite this, the shedding of government jobs cloaks a glimmer of hope: more private sector jobs have been created this year than during the entire Bush administration. Read that again: 2010 has had more private job creation than during the entire 8 year tenure of George W. Bush.

How do yo propose to do that or is this just wishful thinking? :) BTW, we don't have a two party system in the U.S. It's a however many parties you'd like, but we have two predominant parties of the peoples' choosing.

Tell me what makes it a two party system if not for the voters who vote the way they do? And what you would change to fix it if you'd like to?
They've ensconced themselves as the only viable candidates by making the rules of getting on the ballot prohibitively onerous. They use the same voting machines and houses for their primaries as the general elections, while other parties cannot. And they have been doing this for so long that they've got otherwise intelligent voters such as you convinced that they much choose from the lesser of two evils instead of voting their consciences, which makes it a self-fulfilling prophesy.

If I could outlaw political parties, I would. Our elected officials have more loyalty to their party and to corporations than they have to their constituents.

Even if you could officially outlaw parties, which I really don't see a basis to do that, people would still organize themselves into voting blocks. I agree that it should be easier to be on the ballot. I've also suggested instant runoff voting so that people would not feel like they were throwing away their vote. But I see a problem with the Congress composed of primarily Reps and Dems going for it.

Which supports my point. Any rules are going to favor The Party and shut out any potential competition. Voting blocs are one thing, but financing blocs is completely different. Individual citizens should contribute to individual candidates. Organizations should not be allowed to contribute anything directly to any campaign.

And the real harm comes in continuing the party affiliation in the halls of Congress itself. Speaker will be chosen from the majority party, committees are loaded by party. Sides of the aisle. All that should go tomorrow! Once elected, they are supposed to be working for The People, not The Party.
