lamaze class didnt work for me. That wasnt something I was thinking about in the middle of pushing

That's the whole reason you have a coach... you aren't supposed to be thinking... It's the coach that helps keep your sanity.

Plus Lamaze isn't just about the pushing... it helps first time parents know what's happening and what to expect. When you know what's going on, it helps reduce the added stress of the unknown. I mean we knew exactly what was going on when the doc had to whip out the IUP and when they did the Apgar test... There is sooo much going on very quickly that it's comforting to know what it is they are doing, and you're not stressing out over things the doc is doing... delivery is stressful enough.

Don't mean I gotta watch it come out!
be prepared for anything though donnie....me and Bo were under the assumption he would just be holding my hand out of view of what was going on down there....umm lets just say he was more involved then he'd have liked....he got a birds eye view the way they handled mine......so umm yeah be prepared

My only advice, is to enjoy it....Take it all in, the enjoyment and love for your child and admiration for your wife will make you forget the shitty food, uncomfortable chais and the blankets that just do not keep you warm in the room at night. :)

A happy mommy will make a happy child. A happy child will make a happy daddy. So much depends on you just giving her a lot of unconditional, unselfish, agape love right now. You can do it Donnie. And the hospital time will be exciting - you guys are going to walk into a room with set amount of people and then walk with one more added to the crowd.

I'm really excited for you guys.

All in all it sounds freaky right now and it may even look a little freaky but you will be glad you were there to whitness it, its one of the coolest things ever ive been in with a friend of mine and freaked out about the other stuff too but when you see the first signs of that new baby its something you cant tear yourself away from.
Being there for Her and even though she will and at great lengths abuse you and blame you for everything, Is all that will matter to the both of you that you were to share things together :D

Just being there with her will mean so much to her. I fell in love with my hubbie all over again when I looked in his eyes and saw so much love and concern for me in them.
I was in shocking agony but I didn't blame him or feel the need to abuse him in anyway. So don't worry about that too much. Not all women go postal.

One thing my hubbie did for me was brush my hair in between the contractions. (I have long hair) I didn't have it tied back or anything when we went into labor so after a few hours of sweating and pushing and thrashing about, my hair felt like a rat's nest at the base of my neck! ICK!

Thank god my DH had thought to grab our hospital ready bag and the brush was in there. So he stroked my hair and tied it back and I'm not joking.. it felt like heaven when he did that.

When you're in the throes of labor the oddest things mean heaps to you.

Congratulations too! Becoming a parent is the most amazing thing I've ever been through. And I agree with the other poster, No words can convey the feeling.
