It blows me away it's so readily available to patients in CA. I have a friend with lupus and she was prescribed medical mj within months of being diagnosed. But I digress.

The word you are thinking of is "infraction." And an infaction is not a felony like using alcohol or maijuana. And I am not aware of any law that restricts the amount of alcohol you can drink while at home.

I think what he MAY be thinking of is "Drunk in Public"...but I could be wrong.

Well, it certainly is not healthy. I think you are equating the studies that show drinking a glass or two of wine a day reduces your risk of heart attack. While that may be true, it does not mean on balance, drinking alcohol is healthy. It is a toxin. And I drink in moderation myself so I have nothing against it, but on balance it would be healthier to avoid it completely.

There are tons of stuff that are toxins if too much is ingested including vitamins. Not to sound argumentative, but if the tradeoff is avoiding a heart attack by killing a few brain cells, I'd say you came out ahead. I'm not aware of any studies that show alcohol in moderation causes health complications, but again, I'm not sure. And haven't there been studies showing that alcohol in moderation can reduce stress?

Another contributer made a comment about "feeling good about illicit drug use". Well, I'd say everything is a tradeoff. You are going to die in the end anyway but your choices make a difference regarding how long you're going to be around if that is important to you.

Your previous post was sarcastic? MJ is a known reducer of pain for people suffering from cronic something-or-other. Is it cancer?
I was referring to this:

Google it--you'll find a lot. And also, "moderation" is a lot less than people think--basically no more than one drink for a woman and two for a man and at least an hour apart. Most people who consider themselves moderate drinkers usually drink more than that. Again, I am not saying people shouldn't drink (I do) just understand that there is no positive health effect (on balance).

I usually drink one beer once, infrequently twice a week, so I'm covered.:thumbup Sounds like moderation can work even with alcohol. :)

Are you one who frowns upon drinking and drugging? Maybe you drink but think anyone who smokes herb is a complete loser? Perhaps you believe alcohol's only for those lacking a personality? I'm curious to hear your opinions and reasoning behind them.

I do not think drinking or doing drugs is the brightest decision to make, but I don't look down on people that do. My heart goes out to people that bury their life in addiction and never deal with the root cause of their poor life choices/addictions. I think it is sad they are blind to the fact that they idolize something that does not deserve their worship because they have not or can not bring themselves to deal with the pain that is within their soul, so they continue to unknowingly bury the pain with their addiction.

I don't think people are losers. I think they are either lost or found. I think they are either struggling with some sort of pain or they are helping another that is struggling with some sort of pain. Hurt people hurt people and they also hurt themselves. I don't think that alcohol is for people that are lacking a personality. We all have personality's, just some people have had things happen to them in life that may have contributed to them being terribly insecure. Again, it's sad.

I don't agree with doing things that are illegal even if I think they should be legal unless it were a matter of obeying God or protecting others from evil. Doing drugs is illegal in this country, so on that level a person's choice would obviously not be a smart one and I would not choose to be around them as it could possibly bring a curse on their own head and thus mine by proxy. I do however expose myself to this environment/situation in order to help another.

In my opinion people do what they do at their own will, thus someone thinking they are any better than the person who smokes or drinks just not right.

Smoking pot is really not as bad as it is made out to be, in my mind it is not much worse than alcohol and tobacco, the only difference is the latter 2 are legal and taxed.

The point im trying to make is that unless you dont drink or smoke be it socially or not, you have no room to criticize someone that does drugs, after all the only difference is that alcohol and tobacco are legal DRUGS, but drugs none the less.

Here's another side of that, though. Take me and V, for example...while I may not think that there's really anything wrong w/ smoking a little marijuana (except that it's illegal, of course), associating w/ those who DO smoke marijuana puts my job in jeopardy. Now, I'm sorry if anybody here thinks that is criticizing or hypocritical, but I'm the only one who worries about paying my bills and I don't think anybody is gonna do it for me...so I can promise you that I'm gonna do whatever it takes to keep my job. That includes not associating w/ people who choose to break the law.

There are people all over this board doing drugs, illegally dl'ing music and movies, etc., and you still associate with them. Are you guys not worried about that?

I have tried alcohol and weed and there is a huge difference to me. I will stay away from weed until it becomes legal then I will have to consider it then and hopefully we have some research by then to actually know what its long term effects can be. It is hard to go wrong with a good drink though as long as you don't let it take control of your life.
