basically what I'm guessing Kat finds questionable and I find myuself in complete agreement with her is ignorant commentsthat are being thrown out to make a joke of this story and the whole suicide issue by people who havent the first notion of what it is like to deal with the fallout of something like this in their lives.
Making fun out of somebodies death like this while at the same time knowing that this is bringing up painful memories from the past that directly effect posters here is just callous and in the height of bad taste. Its something that any decent thinking thoughtful person wouldnt do.

Its also the sort of attitude both D-S and HO are displaying that helps push vulnerable people who may be at their lowest point into taking their own lives.

Just have some due consideraation for your fellow posters before spouting such unthinking garbage in future.

:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap Very very well said!! I can't do any thing but say... I AGREEE!!!

can you clarify a little what you mean here, PP? We're all imaginary people on the internet. Real people exist in our real lives, not our online ones. I just want to know where you were on this...

I believe what peter meant when he said that as far as real problems was in response to a few things said on here....basically that suicide is something some people here have dealt with...so its real to those that have gone through a loved one committing suicide

May I take this question GP? Peter can always speak for himself but here's my take on it.

I've always maintained that it's real people communicating on the internet. This is just another form of communication albeit more recent in terms of traditional communication. Therefor it is real in the sense that it is real people communicating with one another and not so much as "imaginary". Granted the communication is not being conducted via this medium person to person physically as in right in front of you. Nevertheless you do get to know of one another, in the main, through various means, form opinions and values of one another in a tangible manner....and by extension form friendships or otherwise. Example, I don't consider you to be an imaginary person by virtue of what I have mentioned previously. Same goes for others.

Granted there will always be the assholes, as in "real" life, that are on "scenes" but one can generally separate the sheep from the goat in a matter of time.

What was being discussed here was not imaginary but something that happened and provoked real reactions by people expressing themselves via this medium.

Hope some of this makes sense.

I just have to say that I really don't blame this girl for committing suicide. Words hurt more then actions and I know this for a fact now

extremely well done. :clap rep delivered.

I was alluding to the fact that there are real problems and there are real answers, then there are internet problems. And I do believe real people post and interact on the internet, but ultimately, if they have real problems, their answers lie in the the real world. Not on the internet. So I think people who come onto the internet looking to solve their problems with people they've never met is OK, because sometimes it's good to "air it out," but it's rife with folly.

People without the emotional maturity to deal with the reality of the internet are more prone to falling victim to it, like this girl who commited suicide. We have a nice little "online community" here, where people type and get along. But for the most part, we've never met each other. A real life interaction might be completely different.
Too many people get too wrapped up in it, actually tie some of their equity up in it (sometimes a LOT) and that's where the danger is - taking it too seriously.

I've done that before - taken the internet too seriously - and it didn't turn out real well.

What soul? :D

So...calling you a bitch would hurt more than smacking you in the face with a baseball bat? :confused

Emotional and psychological damage will always have the potential to be more severe than any amount of physical damage. It depends on a person's ability to cope.

Emotional damage doesn't have shit on the kind of damage a .50 cal would do :rofl2:

Went completely over his head :D

But hey, give Jack his jacket. Gotta love the guy's tenacity. :)

No it didn't. My name's not Jack either :)

Ok Jack...I mean Dodge. :D (just my dry humor there).

All joke aside, I like your tenacity. Plus you seem to be able to take things in stride. Cheers.

But it still comes back to what groundpounder said, there are real problems and there are real answers, then there are internet problems. And I do believe real people post and interact on the internet, but ultimately, if they have real problems, their answers lie in the the real world. Myspace can't be held accountable for stupid teenage drama.

No, they are very real problems being expressed on the internet, there's the difference and why shouldn't they do that. Too many have not read properly, what this was all about in the first place.

Also, sometimes it is far far easier for a lot of people to take solice in writing down what is what, rather than having to face people and talk about it - that is very normal and absolutely not 'stupid teenage drama'.

No, that was probably the last straw for that person - people only ever get to that stage when someone adds to their misery that others' have caused them to begin with - they don't just do it on a whim. To them it is real whatever has gone on and probably is real. There is very much such thing as Internet bullying. There have been many programmes about this in our country - it is not acceptable at any level.

People are made (as I have already explained and so have others' here), to be depressed by other people and bad situations - they don't make themselves or choose to be depressed. It could happen to anyone, even you at some stage whether now or in the future......
