I have read it cover to cover multiple times.....Don't remember reading that

The bible is not a standard everyone accepts.
God is holy. A being that is pure in every sence. Can a holy being lie?
Can a holy being be untrustworthy?
No, therefor He cannot be 'not Himself'.
If you want to know who the tree little pigs are, read the story.
If you want to know the Christian God, you have to read the Christian Bible.

So since you are on the subject.....Who is this thing you speak of....God?
Becuase I never read a job desription in the Bible either.

You can only know God if you make that step in faith. There is no other way.Again these are statements of faith. Even if there is God as you describe, if he is truly fair and respects the human race as his intelligent, free willed children, his standard can't be one of blind faith. It's a bad standard and if so, God has made a bad decision. There really needs to be no mystery and no good reason why God would expect human beings to accept him purely on blind faith especially if you're focused on one particular dogma. The reason- there are lots of faithful people in this world. God's supposed method of being mysterious will have the end effect of disenfranchising a great number of people in this world who guessed wrongly. For example, why would anyone raised in the Muslim persuasion figure out that Jesus is the way to go? You know, he could clear this up right away if he wanted to.Some believe that God showed himself to different people around the world in different ways. I don't believe that belief in Jesus and his sacrifice is the only path into heaven.
While I regret not being able to take your word for it, my ultimate destiny is something I'm going to have to discover and experience for myself. I'm pretty comfortable with where I'm at.
Since He is trustworthy He is reliable and will reveal Himself to all those who will take that step.

There was once a man who didn't believe in God and didn't hesitate to let others know how he felt about religion and religious holidays, like Christmas. His wife did believe and raised their children to have faith in God and Jesus.
One snowy Christmas Eve, his wife was taking their children to a Christmas Eve service in the farm community in which they lived. She asked her husband to come, but he refused as usual, .. "The Christmas story is nonsense!" he exclaimed. "Why would God lower Himself to come to Earth as a man? That's ridiculous!" She and the children went, and he stayed home.
That night the wind began to blow and the snow turned into a blizzard. As the man looked out the window, all he could see was a blinding snowstorm. He sat down before the fire-place to relax . Suddenly there was a loud thump. Something had hit the window. Then a second thump. He looked out, but couldn't see more than a few feet because of the blinding snow.
When the storm let up a little, he ventured out to see what could have been beating on his window. In the field near the house was a flock of wild geese. Apparently they were flying south when they were caught in the blizzard and couldn't go on.
They were lost and stranded on his farm, without food or shelter. Flapping their wings, they aimlessly flew around the field in low circles. Some had apparently flown into his window.
The man felt concern for the geese and wanted to help them.
The barn would be a great place for them to stay, he thought. It was warm and safe. They would be saved if they spent the night there waiting out the storm.
He opened the barn doors wide. Then he watched and waited, hoping they would notice the open barn and enter. But the geese just fluttered around aimlessly and didn't seem to notice the barn or realize what it could mean for them.
The man tried to get their attention, but that just seemed to scare them and they moved further away. He went into the house and brought out some bread, broke it up, and made a breadcrumb trail leading to the barn. They still didn't catch on.
Now he was getting frustrated. He got behind them and tried
to shoo them toward the barn, but they only became frightened and scattered in every direction except toward the barn.
Nothing he did could get them to go into the barn where they would be safe. "Why don't they follow me?" he puzzled. "Can't they see this is the only place where they can survive?"
He thought for a moment and realized that they just wouldn't follow a human. "If only I were a goose, then I could save them," he said out loud.
Suddenly he had an idea. He went into the barn, got one of his own geese, and carried it in his arms as he circled around behind the flock of wild geese. When he released his goose, it flew through the flock and straight into the safety of the barn. One by one the other geese followed it to safety.
He stood silently for a moment as the words he had spoken a few minutes earlier replayed in his mind: "If only I were a goose, then I could save them!" Then he thought about what he had said to his wife.
Suddenly it all made sense. That is what God had done. We were like the geese--blind, lost, perishing. God had His Son become like us so He could show us the way and save us. That was the meaning of Christmas, he realized. As the winds and blinding snow died down, his soul became quiet. Suddenly he understood what Christmas was all about, why Christ had come.
Years of doubt and disbelief vanished like the passing storm. He fell to his knees in the snow, and prayed his first real prayer: "Thank You, Lord, for coming in human form to get me out of this world and leading me to a better one. Lead me to the safety of Your Father's arms."
It's hard to put into words. God makes you complete in the fullest sense of the word. Your inner longings are satisfied. God gives you true peace, love, patience, fullfilment, happiness.
Not a peace, love, patience, happiness of this world.
He's omnipotent, he can do whatever he wants. The rules aren't qualities of his nature, they are things he set up.
He can do it but then He would go against His nature of being loving, kind, trustworthy and just.

That's how I look at it.....I have NEVER felt punished after I discovered my own personal belief in diety, I only felt bad before I recognized it.

That's easy for you to say.
Making decisions based on guesses rolled into faith, is like going to Vegas, pulling the slot and hoping for the best. As they say, "Good luck!"

How do you know that is his nature- he told you, or you sense it?
That why man calls it faith. If you say to a trustworthy God that you don't believe His words then your are saying that He is a liar. Then why would He reveal Himself?That's easy for you to say.

I'm sorry but I'm not naive and gulliable, I only trust people for a reason.
He makes that known to you through your senses. Just like you sense certain aspects of the character of your dad.
Loving would be not punishing people who never knew he existed. Punishing people who have no idea that god exists is not kindness. Allowing innocent animals to be starved, beaten, abused is not kind, loving or just.
I'm pretty trusting but I only trust people that I can see and hear.
God is just in all His ways. You don't know that because you don't know Him.

I'm not trying to be obtuse, but who says God is trustworthy? All the good feelings you have are based on your faith, possibly the satisfaction your brain gives you when you have no fear, you know you're in good hands, and the little electrodes in your brain tell you to relax. You've decided the Christian God is the one, perfectly fine, but this is your faith, not anything that can be confused with fact, sorry. BTW, I don't really believe if you guess wrong your damned for eternity... because faith is a guess. Even if a little voice tells you your guess is right, for all you know it's the devil having some fun.
