We are so vastly different from the animal kingdom, that this statement is nearly insulting. Some mothers kill their young also. Some females mate with numerous males to increase their odds of reproducing. Some males are killed after copulation. C'mon...the animal kingdom is no way related to a thinking human population. Rethink that idea.

That being said .. I am not opposed to the death penalty tho. I believe that when someone commits a heinous crime .. society shoudl not spend the rest of that person's natural life paying for them. Who is to say before modern times we didn't do that? We didn't start off with the society standards we have today.

Not to long ago we had people killing each other because they thought witches exsisted.

We do have mothers that killl their young, only people can't stomach it and find it offensive (not saying I don't either now).

We have males that copulate with many females and spread their "seed" wide and far.

We also have females that kill their mates and vice versa after having domestic disputes.

In all actuality we really are not all that different .. we just don't express things in the exact same ways .. not all animals handle things the same way either. We all mimic each other in ways though.

Lions don't kill their mates after breeding either .. only black widows do that .. each group of animals have their own society standards .. and sometimes they interchange.
 
We don't live in an ethical or logical world .. if you try to base your entire life working on those 2 things .. you will fail miserably.

And what is ethical or logical to YOU may not be to someone else .. so what makes who right and who wrong?

The court systems .. who are voted into office by the people standing/living.sitting around you.

That is ideological nonsense. Whether you believe in the death penalty or not it is asinine to compare the act of a murderer with that of a state mandated execution of said murderer.
If a man breaks into a home and murders an entire family then is later captured. His execution is not the same thing.
If you cannot see the difference between cold blooded murder and punishment for such a crime, then I fear for the world.

Yeah but putting us in the level of lets say, a spider monkey, is ridiculous. We are a much more developed species who CAN apply ethics and morals to situations. Is the world reasonable and ethical all the time? Nope. But we do what we can.

Really .. do you think you could make a honey comb? How about a an ant colony? How about keep a herd f wild horses together without any slipping off? Ever watched meercat manor? How about fend off Lions, Crocs, and hippos with your bare hands?

While we are the more advanced of the animal kingdom .. the others are equally as resourcful in theri scieties just as much as we are.

I do not believe that they do not reason .. there is NO way ants could build the massive underground structures that they are able to without some sort of reasoning and forthought. Or bees the structures that they can accomplish.

They are carefully planned out (almost like an architect drew plans up for them) structures that are implemented by a social structure and order .. and if it fails .. they leave/abandon the structure, move to a different location .. and start again.

Sounds vaugely familiar to me. We did the same thing as we worked our way up the technological food chain.

I'm not saying that I believ eone day ants will be driving little ant cars .. but just that they have more reasoning and thought process and scial structure than most give them credit for.

Morals are a man made situation. Animals also don't feel the need to wear pants .. that is based n our own sexual urges and the need to cover genetalia up.

You obviously do not know the difference in intent so of course you would think a serial killer is just as bad as the state that executes him.
