The discussion over the guy in Houston shooting and killing two people got me to thinking:
would you kill someone to defend your property, or would you let them take it and then report it to the police?

Let's remove some hypos here: In Texas (and some other states), it's legal to use deadly force to protect yourself and your property. Let's not consider it's legality for this thread - just general principle.

If you don't have kids, or are not married, don't make that part of your argument. Deal with what situation you're in.

And I'm talking ultimately and up to: ie, if someone wants your $2 watch, odds are you might not kill over it. If someone is breaking into your home, that could be differnent. That's what I mean.

So, ultimately, would you kill someone to defend your property? Breaking into your home? Jacking your car?

If it came to it, I would. Break into my house? You're more than likely going to catch some lead. I have night vision goggles, so I wouldn't have to turn the lights on to give away my position, either. :ninja
 
From a financial point of view youre probably better off to use deadly force as most likely if you just use excessive force the criminals would probably turn around and sue you for compensation.At least thats the way things can turn out here.
 
You aren't very clear on this question. First you state it as if you are only killing to safeguard property. Then you talk about them being in your house... two different things IMO

If it was just to safeguard my property, then no. He's not right for taking my stuff (it can be replaced) and I'm not right in taking his life over it (That cannot be replaced) I don't care how you slice it up, if you kill him over your belongings, then you have just put a pretty low price on his life. I couldn't do that.

Now if he's in my house and my life or others are threatened, then it's a different story. I would kill to protect my family.

I thought I laid it out right here. I do agree there can be shades of gray, so maybe I should have made this a little more prominent:

Silious voted no, but then said if someone was breaking into his house, he'd do it, so I guess he's a yes. :confused
 
Absolutely. I would warn them of any arms I have and to get the fuck out because the police were on the way. if they try to come after me, they'll get popped until they stop moving. Self defense of myself and my property.

Sure I'll feel like shit because of it, but I'll still be breathing.

Someone stealing your property isn't a valid reason for killing someone imo. I fail to see how you would have to take it that far to stop them stealing from you. I'd certainly beat this shit out of them though and beat why stealing from me isn't a good idea into their skulls!

See Peter, the goal for me isnt to kill them. But I'm sure they are gonna keep beggin me to. I like to accomodate my guests.
