We should be thanking the enlightenment and its great thinkers actually for our freedom. Soldiers were important, but without enlightenment era ideas this country would have never been founded on the principles it was founded on.
They died to rid themselves of oppressive British rule, not necessarily for a separate country. Most states didn't even want to be separate from the British. Those who fought in the revolutionary war were actually the minority. I'm glad they fought though. I hate tea.
LOL You are making me laugh today. Great thoughts. Really.![]()
Well, what if I burned it to symbolize my wide freedoms of free speech? Not as a sign of disrespect, but just as a demonstration that as a free person, I CAN do it.Assume you must have dropped it on the ground and were doing the proper thing by burning it.
America isn't free, we just don't have as many limitations as we think. If we were an actual FREE country, we wouldn't have money, and we could go around killing without going to jail. We're only free to an extent.
I have to disagree... when you speak of freedom not having any laws, that would be call anarchy. Anarchy deprives you of your own personal freedoms. Freedoms must be limited to protect the rights of individuals, otherwise we are not truly free.
It's a very fine balancing act that must have been hell for the founding fathers to put to paper.
Then I would stand back and watch you be pummeled by the bad biker guys I ride around with ! :muscles: I dont know if you noticed but bikers dont like that too much.Well, what if I burned it to symbolize my wide freedoms of free speech? Well, there have been anarcho societies before, mostly in Europe and if you study them there wasn't any real depriving of personal liberties.
If America was free under your terms, then someone would find a way to rob you of your freedom. Freedoms are restricted to a degree to protect the freedoms of others.

That would be ironic, since they would be imposing on my first amendment right, and going directly against what they say they are patriotic about.
Plus, they would be completely missing my point for burning it.
Yes but to be fair, you defending yourself would be robbing them of their freedom to express their unhappieness by stomping you into the ground. Sooo.... Who's the bigger hypocrite here?![]()
