Who knows...the guy was obviously crazy! I was waiting to read something about it in the newspaper today but I guess it was too late last night for there to be anything. Im sure hes spending his Christmas in the hospital!

I know what you mean about how tame they are, I had this one fly down on a branch right next to me once, I slowly put my hand out and it didn't fly off, it stopped short of actually letting me touch it but even so, not many wild birds in this country that will let you do that!

Wow, you got to hand feed one! I'm jealous. Apart from king parrots in Australia, the only other wild birds I've hand fed are ducks, swans, gulls and sparrows in St James park.

well the grebe isn't perfect but i was pleased with it.......i never knew before that day that they wash they're prey before they eat it

Yep, these are becoming close to being extinct and people will, if caught, be heavily fined for picking them. They are very pretty - they grow mainly in our woods.
