Just out of curiosity, since I'm loosing my wits with ignorant/rude people in public and their lack of sense...

How many of you would actually opening point out a child's disfigurement, skin condition, or disability...

Would you point it out to your children too so they are raised to treat other differently for how they look?

How many of you would accost the parent and criticize them whether or not they are having them treated?

All I can say is, thank god my son is three and blissfully unaware of the world and how crude people can be; although, I fear for when he starts school and I'm not there to protect him from people's venom poisoning his mind to thinking there's something wrong with him and should be ashamed.

I'm going to start mocking their appearance and see how they like it, I mean that must be how they want to be treated if they are treating a child.

I think it's hard for people not to stare a bit when they see something that doesn't fit easily in their brain as normal. It doesn't always have to be malignant or cruel, but I can imagine it seems like it when you're the one being stared at!

In terms of actually pointing, laughing, telling someone else to mock a person with a disability...no, I'd never do that. It would hurt me to see a child and draw attention to a difference it has. I'm not quite sure how our society manages to be so far apart emotionally but unable to mind our own business. Odd dichotomy.

I would never do that, I mean I know people stare but to point it out when it's a child WTF? Should have asked if it hurt when she fell from the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

It never ceases to amaze me how ignorant supposed ADULTS can be. Even if you THINK it, common decency should tell you that it shouldn't leave your brain.

If an adult wants to pick on someone, let them pick on an adult that is capable of defending themselves.

These past couple of years working in retail has just reaffirmed my long-held position that most people are assholes... In some form or another.

Including myself, of course:ninja

Hopefully, your little guy recovers quickly.:cool

Some people really make me sick!

What really annoys me, when in public, and an adult just pushes right into a kid while walking by or doesn't move over a little when they can tell the kid can't get over. But I am the rude bitch that says something.

MOST definitely!

Unfortunately the 1% who are without empathy tend to take up 90% of the radar.

THIS is SOOOOOOOO TRUE!!!!!!!!!! Well said!!!!!!

AMEN! I love when the "rude bitch" in the area tells the REALLY rude person off and calls them out for their disgusting, unempathetic, sub-human actions!

Sorry, since I'm new can I ask what condition your son has?

Also- I would never. Ugh, I remember the one time I was MORTIFIED in public when my 3 year old pointed and YELLED, "LOOK JESS, A MIDGET!!!" about 15 feet away from a little person in Target. I was slightly too far away, and the man was walking away or I would have stopped him and apologized... but I did drag my son's butt out of there and gave him a stern speech about it doesn't matter what anyone looks like, it's no business of his to point it out to anyone, and if he has any questions about why someone looks a certain way he can ask me in private.

I can't fathom how people can look at another person (let alone a child) and say something like that. I've had it happen with Dominic a couple of times (his skin condition made it look like he had a bad sunburn on his legs, especially when he was hot). Every time I pointed it out that I'm aware of it and treating it, they'd get huffy or embarrassed about it.

It must be hard, but try to look at it with the 'glass is 99% FULL' approach. While there may be a few who are a little bit taken aback, the percentage of people who are outright rude is very small. 99% of people have more manners, but because they say nothing, they get overlooked.

I might make a slight comment but not aloud so that everyone can hear me. That is just plain rude. I try to be considerate of others 90% of the time. I still have issues with mentally handcapped individuals though. That's my own issue and would never speak on it to anyone accept those who know my own personal history.

A good parent or person should not even make a point of pointing out any differences between people. It sets a bad example for their children..

What condition do you have the compels you to post things that make you sound like a fucking Neanderthal? Christ Dana, I can understand why you are single. Your insane level of insensitivity to others truly boggles my mind. After some of your recent posts, I can honestly say I would never want to go anywhere in public with you. In fact, I would hate to be somewhere private and hear the things that your really think. And I already know this post is a waste of my breath because you don't understand where you are wrong for thinking rude insensitive things. I have seen it plenty of times before. I am sure not going to pass up at least TRYING to bring up from the bottom dwelling level of the world.
