I looked around for a pinned sub forum for pets, but couldn't find one, so I'm posting here since my pets are a very important part of my family...
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Last night, just before I went to sleep, one of my eight cats died on my arms, and I've been crying my eyes out since then.

Priscilla was thirteen years old and I never expected she would be the one to go at this time.. I don't know what happened to her, but it came so out of the blue.. it threw me for a loop..
All of my pets are indoor only animals, and besides the visits to the vet, none of them ever go outside...

Everyone had a check up a few weeks ago, and she was very healthy..
At that visit, my vet and I had been discussing about making the final decision for her brother Lucas, and Misty, another cat I helped rehab more than fifteen years ago- she is twenty now-..
They are both going downhill pretty fast, but I have been reluctant to do that, as long as I see they are not in pain or suffering.
I have many years of experience taking care of small animals, and can easily judge when it's time to let them go... and they go surrounded by love.

I'm remembering the day my oldest daughter called me from work, begging me to go and get two tiny newborn kittens that had been found by one of her coworkers... The babies had been alone for almost a day, it was bitterly cold and no one could find the mother... a feral cat they all had been feeding..

When I got there, I realized those kittens were suffering from hypothermia and would die soon if I didn't take care of them.
I put them inside my coat pocket and rushed home so I could get them warm and feed them..

They spent the first night in a special bag I made, so I could keep them warm against my body, and the next morning I was at my veterinarian's clinic before she got there...
After she examined them, she said they were healthy and alive thanks to my care, and also determined they were about three days old!..

I was their mommy now, and they depended on me...
I had to feed and clean them...
I also had to teach them how to care for themselves, like a mother cat does..

Prissy, you were my little sweet girl and I will miss you.. You left a big void in my life and will be in my heart forever..

I know you are on that very special place at the other side of the rainbow bridge, together with all of my other two and four legged friends that have left my home before you... watching me and knowing how much I still love all of you.. ♥

am sorry for your loss, but, is'nt it overreacting over a cat's death? well, no offense at all, hope you'd get better, you still have seven cats :) all the best.

You have my sincere condolences, Willow.

(...one should not judge a life that is lost by the species, but by the bond shared...)

Thank you HK,
I'm okay.. I've been working with animals and have adopted and been adopted by many, for over 30 years, and I'm used to going through expected and unexpected things like this, but it doesn't make it any easier when they go. :(

So sorry for your loss, Willow. My cat is going on 16 years old and he's starting to act older. He meows loudly for no reason that we can find..... He walks and his claws won't retract and they catch on the carpeting/rugs.... His vision is definitely not as sharp, nor his hearing. He sleeps a lot too. He's an inside cat. He still eats and drinks and poops and pees just fine though.

The Veterinarian said he is getting up there in age. But he's healthy. So I know how you must feel. :(

Hard to lose a friend.
yes ofcourse, hope willow gets better soon as possiible.....

In this world, there is room for everyone... including animal lovers and people that do not like them..
There is no need to go and kick someone that is hurting, just to pad your post count.. :(

If someone wants to be accepted and respected in a community.. they have to start by respecting others and their feelings...

I will be okay, thanks to the loving support of my friends..

Willow I know exactly how you feel. I lost my buddy " Barney " the monster sized cat after just about 15 years. That was ions ago and I still miss him. From one pet person to another I offer you my condolences. Although the memories will always be there along with the sadness it will get easier as time passes.

Thank you for your understanding sweetie.
If you need any help at all or have questions, don't hesitate to ask me... I will give you as much info as I can..
Besides my 20 year old, I have three that have disabilities, and are 17, 16 and 15 years old , plus another 7 year old that has a heart condition and needs medication twice a day..
Sixteen is pretty advanced, but with care and patience, you will be able to make his last years easier.

I lost a deaf cat about a year ago. He was 17 and I used my own made up sign language with him :)
My 16 year old lost an eye because of an infection about two years ago, and is always bumping into things and falling from places because he misjudges distances.. :p

Try to keep your kittie's nails as short as you can.. a nail file is handy too..:)
