I don't like this sort of thing. It's not appropriate for young girls to be wearing such revealing clothing - one of the nightclubs in my area has a 14-17 year olds night on wednesdays, and walking past the queue is an argument for abstinence if I ever saw one - no one wants to see girls that young in hotpants and bikini tops, with high heels and makeup plastered on with a trowel.

There's nothing wrong with teaching your kids about modesty and dignity, rather than how to be a miniature skank. Until they can get jobs, at which point they're old enough to make their own clothing choices anyway, they can't buy that stuff for themselves.

Why wouldn't you want for others which you do??? Why this prejudice about age??

I totally agree, girls are growing up WAY too quickly!
More than once I have seen young teenage girls out and about dressed more provocatively and sexily than me, it's so wrong. I think parents play a large role in this, as someone has already said they are the ones who buy the clothes for them!

In NZ and Australia there is a shop called supre. It is notorious for stocking trashy clothes. I remember a few years ago they had t-shirts in sizes for pretty young girls with 'slut' printed on them....what parent in their right mind would allow their young or teenage daughter to wear a t-shirt that says that?! Its crazy!

It is not a prejudice against age to say that children should not be wearing clothes meant for adults. I want my kids to act like kids, and wear clothing that reflects their age, rather than trying to dress them up like little barbie dolls.

Just because something is suitable for an adult does not make it suitable for a child, that's common sense. And hell, half these clothes they wear would look slutty on an adult female too - but at least it would look age appropriate, rather than completely ridiculous.

The other day I went to the mall with my sister and there was a talent search happening. It must have been the day that the girls were performing, unless there were no boys in the contest. Either way, this was going on it the food court, so when my sister and I stopped to eat lunch this is what we saw. There were little girls on stage dancing to "Apple Bottom Jeans", girls dancing promiscuously, wearing revealing clothes. These were LITTLE girls I'm talking about. They must have been under 10. I found it absolutely horrific that any mother, and ESPECIALLY any father, would let their daughter dress like this. You hear so many stories on the news about how little girls are being abducted and sexually abused, do you think this kind of behavior is helping that situation? It's just fueling the fire that all these sick perverts already have. Not long after the 'incident' at the mall, there was an article in Redbook magazine. To briefly describe the article, it was a woman's point of view on the way little girls these days are growing up too fast. Mothers are taking them to salons, getting their nails done, shopping for clothes, etc. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with this. But when we have girls like Hannah Montana (who was pole dancing at an awards show) and Lindsey Lohan (who has been in rehab god knows how many times), you start to understand why little girls feel the need to grow up so fast. There are too many of them worried about their looks and what everyone thinks about them instead of worrying about their intellect and the things in life that are really important. Now, I used to play dress up all the time when I was little, loved getting into my mom's make-up and jewelery and clothes and nail polish, putting on her high heels, but the image girls are being force fed wasn't there when I was a kid. Is it just me that sees that little girls are becoming women faster than they should?

I personally blame the sexualised society we live in, everyone is supposed to be obsessed with it, otherwise we are prudes, boring....etc

Why you deny the 'freedom' you avail to your children ?? Why aren't they listening to you?? Why do kids try to ''imitate' grown ups??? There seems something ''psychological'' about it???

I find the idea of girls that are not of the age of consent, dressing up in adult clothing gut wrenching:yuk

I told you not to post on my thread. You have some serious mental problem with separating reality from the sick society you live in.

Well you are saying something that some people can't stomach

Is anyone bound to agree with someone else's opinion?? But I believe they must have the guts to be tolerant and civilized to what other people can stomach or not..
