TSA = Total Sexual Assaut?

LOL, what the fuck is your problem? I could go right down the list on those who didn't give a crap when our phones were being tapped. Hell, I can remember people saying they didn't care because they weren't doing anything wrong. That they had nothing to hide. As long as the government was keeping them safe.
Yes, please. I'd like to see your list. Just to remind you of your claim:

And I especially love the fact that those who are the most outspoken on this subject said absolutely nothing when the government was tapping their phones, reading their e-mails and passing the patriot act. Nothing, not a fucking word.

:eek Tim keeps a list! :willy_nilly:

Boy am I glad that I aint on it.:D

Tim, I don't really see this as a right vs. left thing. It's a totalitarian thing that transcends party lines. Terrorists have replaced Communists as the boogeymen du jour and there will be those that understand the real threat to our freedoms and those that would rather remain blissfully ignorant.

Now back to your regulary scheduled programming.

Why is this guy sleeping?

This has been bugging me, so I can't let it go.
Less than 2% of passengers get the enhanced pat down, so if there are 150 people on your flight, only three are getting the pat down.
Tim-id, the Fourth Amendment starts out "The right of the people to be secure," not "The right of most of the people." Violating constitutional limitations is violating constitutional limitations even if it's only one person who gets searched by a federal agent without probable cause or warrant.

I agree with what you are saying completely but your despairaging modification of a username diminishes the weight of your point.

I can't believe this debate is still going. Let's just accept that it's a crap thing to do and be done with it lol.

Them there are fighting words for a Yankee

If we had that attitude back in the day we would still be under the English Rule

This shit is not constitution unless Marshall Law is declared I believe.

It is a matter of principle and damn right it will not be forgotten.

I believe that relying 100% on technology is a mistake. I also think that 3D scans are a mistake due to the controversey. There are two types of scanners- millimeter wave and backscanners. Millimeter waves produce the ugly 3D body images where they can see all your flab and argumentatively your privates. The other type, backscanner produces a 2D image, much better imo. If you read this Newsweek article- Man vs Machine it makes a really good case how our security is mostly reactive. Guy tries to put explosives in shoe, all shoes come off, etc. Terrorist tries to use liquid explosive, all liquids come out of suitcases... The article pushes for more like something Israel does for flights into and out of their country, focus on the people, ask questions. The significant question is, is this workable with huge numbers of people at congested airports?

I passed through security today and TSA had up a poster showing this image even though what they had there was a millimeter wave machine:

This is the kind of image you get through the backscatter machine. This is their attempt to show you that what they see is not really a big deal. What they don't show you is this image for a millimeter wave machine:

This is the ugly one, imo the one they don't want you to see, the one that would cause a fuss, because you are being seen basically in the buff. They need the software to produce a generic body and add in the foreign objects. This would fix the controversy imo.

I just got back from Vegas and I only saw two people scanned. One was a girl who was traveling with an acquaintance. She spoke is african american looking but speaks broken english. I did not get to talk to her much but perhaps they singled her out. The other was an 80 year old white guy who struggled to walk

I took everything suspect and put it on my checked bag. I caught flack from my roomie for having such a big piece of luggage and having to check it but I figured that would be worth it if it kept stuff from being suspected. Then I took every damn think off me that had any metal and put it in my carry on bag.

Leaving from Detroit did not take long. Coming back from Vegas it was probably as 25 minute wait.

I was seated a couple rows from the lavatory. I am not ashamed to say I was very leery and skeptical when a guy sitting behind me who clearly was mideastern acted guilty going in there. He went in a couple of times. We know who the enemy is. It sure is not a 80 year old WASP grandfather

My half-sisters mother is half Saudi, and she looks really "middle eastern". And my sister does a bit too.

So you'd think of them as the enemy too?

The only enemy is your own government and the propaganda the media has rammed down your throat.

The "terrorists" you guys are so damn petrified of are fighting in their own countries to try and create Islamic states. Very few give a damn about the US, bar the 6 members of "Al Qaeda".

It's obvious by you still being here that the 80 year old WASP or the " mideastern " mystery man with a case of the shits clearly wasn't the " enemy ". So who is the enemy?
