When Dominic was born I was covered under the COBRA version of the military insurance, and I don't remember having to pay a single cent :dunno

do you have facts to back that up? what i have researched is that debt is the #1 cause for bankruptcies in the US. like spending way more than you make, racking up credit cards, etc
but tim do you think that it is right for the government to fine people $2500 per year if they dont want health insurance?

Show me where this will actually happen. This is nothing more than talking points at this time. This is nothing more than the right (funded by special interest groups) trying to scare the people into staying with the staus quo. The insurance industry is positioned to loose billion if not trillions in profits so they are willing to invest as much money as it takes to spread as much misinformation as they need to turn everyone against their best interests.
In my area we have some of the best hospitals in the world. Thomas Jefferson University hospital, University of Pennsylvania, Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia CHOP, Hahnemann University Hospital, Temple University Hospital, etc. Most, if not all of the ones named above are non profit hospitals and I can tell you that they have some of the best talent in the world practicing cutting edge medicine. They are not hurting for money in the least while paying some of the top salaries.
Apparently you are not familiar with what a non profit hospital means.

We have this in the US right now... If I'm an alcoholic, my insurance company will NOT pay for me to get a liver transplant. If I was over 58, my insurance company would refuse to pay for a heart stint. And the list goes on and on and on.... what makes you think we can get these services here in the states with private insurance? That's one of the major problems we have right now. People getting denied service/payment for needed services. What's the difference between the bureaucrat sitting behind the desk at your insurance company and one sitting behind a government desk?

In the current system there is no average family who has enough money set aside to deal with a major health issue without an insurance plan. Accountable, you have health insurance?
For profit corporations decided on a daily basis who will live and die, and if anyone does not think the "profit consideration" is not involved in the decision is kidding themselves. Yes there is reasonable vs unreasonable options. The question is how high do you want profits to be the determining factor?
No, I don't want profits in the equation. But I damn sure don't want the federal government in the equation either.
You have a point, but the lesser of two evils is still evil. I would fully support a logical plan that doesn't grotesquely expand our government and add massive debt to our already tenuous budget. There is a problem, and it does need to be fixed. But the current method they're proposing is not the way to do it.

Cuz vote-fraud seems here to stay which gives them license to not really care what their employers (We The People) think cuz their jobs are secure. With that hefty benefits package and generous raises whenever they feel like it.
