Miss California responds to gay marriage question...Did it cost her the crown?

Re: Miss Usa 2009 Pageant - Miss USA California Responds To Gay

I fixed the link so the video would show here.

I was watching CNN Headline News last night and they were talking about how it's widely believed that her answer cost her the crown. I don't think I believe that. And the reason I don't believe that is that I think, unfortunately, the majority of Americans agree w/ her on the issue.

Some people were saying they thought it was an unfair question, especially since it was posed by a gay man. I also disagree w/ that. The questions they pose at the pageant are more in-depth than the old ones that we so fondly remember soliciting a response of "I would wish for world peace." And, honestly, even though I don't agree w/ her opinion I do give her credit for having the balls to be honest about it.

That's the way it works darlin' people only want to hear an opinion if it agrees with their lifestyle.

I think if it did cost her the crown that's bullshit. She's entitled to her own opinion, and she shouldn't have to pander to the gay pageant lobby to win.

On the other hand, she's an imbecile for not thinking there were probably a million gay men watching....

I heard his rant yesterday on the radio. IMO he set her up and it was a hit piece. I bet he researched and found where she had commented on this before. I wish she would have told him to fuck off right then and there and refuse to answer the question.

I mean she could have answered that way, but it's hard to think on your feet in front of a panel of judges and all the people watching around the world. I mean I messed up answering a question in front of just 50 people, I couldn't imagine trying to answer a question in front of that many, you never think of that kind of way to answer a question until like 3 hours afterward.

Edit: And my question wasn't even controversial.

She may have lost the crown just because (to me anyway) she sounded like a bimbo

"in my country ahh err family" etc

She took NO time to even THINK about her answer...

I wouldn't have voted for her either...she looked like the stereotypical "California/valley girl"

and surely she couldnt lose just based on one NON vote from Hilton?

Things always look easy if your not the one doing them...

She really seemed like she didn't want to answer the question which is why she rushed it. The way she stuttered and stormed off shows it.

shes probably a homophobe who didn't deserve the crown to begin with. Popularity contests=lame.

Just becuase she doesn't agree with gay marriage it doesn't mean she is a homophobe. It could mean that she is just really traditional...

I'm for gay marraige, but I don't hold it against anyone that isn't. As long as they think that gays deserve the same rights, I'm fine with it.

Did you do it in front of millions of people in the finals of a contest that you've dreamed of winning your entire life?

I don't mean to sound rude, but public speaking is different for everyone.

Not rude at all...a valid question.

OK, you said "in the finals of a contest you have dreamed of winning all your life" if thats the case, you would be prepared for controversial questions, and would take the time to THINK about your answer.

My public speaking was to gain a degree, it was in front of hundreds of people and it WAS something I had dreamed of obtaining my whole life...so I prepared.

If she is the typical pageant queen, her mumma would have prepared her all her life too.

It was still in front of millions of people, and some people are just naturally better at staying calm and public speaking...
