Redbacks and whitetails didn't bother me too much when I was out there. I know the're poisonous but they leave you alone if you leave them alone, I've even handled a redback. One of the mother in laws neighbours had their little kid running in once with something to show her. She had a whole handful of redbacks she had collected and not one of them bit her.
The ones out there that worry me are the Sydney funnelwebs, deadliest spiders on earth and they actually go for you!

I've found a few funnel webs in the shower, I won't muck around with them....they DIE

Usually you have to actually tread or sit on a redback for him to bite you (hence SLims famous song I posted a bit further back)

Ithought you guys got your fair share of nasty spiders too? Black widow, recluse spider ect?

They can also swim and play dead at the bottom of swimming pools too, saw one doing that once, the bastard!

Or do what my missus little cousin did, one got inside her toy car so she kept poking it, so it bit her. Screamed the place down!

Just call ahead. And I will be checking you for ticks at the door..... Just sayin'...... ;)

I don't really have a fear so to speak of other bugs. I have a great dislike for bees, wasps, hornets.... because I have been stung. I live in the country. It's a fact of life out here. If I leave my car parked too long by the garage, they start to make a nest in the side view mirrors or in the door jambs! WTH? They are constantly making little nests that I find on my deck and up in the eaves of the house.

And those da amn Asian Lady Bugs! Them little snots bite! They get behind the siding and end up in the window sills and before you know it, they're in the house! 10 to 20 or more at a time! I just vacuum them up. Too much noise to squish 'em all! :D

And we also have a dog that brings in ticks on occasion. We have deer here, so that worries me some. Not much you can do but keep checking your dog.

We are lucky not to have actual deer ticks. If we did, my dogs would have been dead from tick fever from the number of them.

I know what you mean about the bees and such. We'll get mud daubers trying to make nests in under the eaves of the house every spring. I'll leave them alone until they become a threat. Or better yet, just knock the nest down first chance I get before they finish it.

Had an Africanized bee swarm make a pit stop in our pepper tree a couple of years ago. That was rather scary, but fascinating all the same. The swarm was huge. They stayed overnight, and left in the morning. But we've had a few deaths here from them, and they've killed a few pets as well.

Absolutely.

The tick HAS to be dead first though. Its an old Australian bushies trick and it works.

My bluey can be covered in paralisys ticks, and it doesnt affect him at all

No recluse spiders here due to the cold weather. Thankfully. And the black widow spiders... yes..... they hang about wood piles. I have never seen one on my property and I hope never to see one. If I do.... Well... I don't know what I'll do really. Screaming just doesn't seem to chase them away at all.

I don't keep our wood for our home burning use near the house. When it's brought in, I don't do the actual handling of the wood. I just hope the guys that do.... when tossing the logs onto the cart..... knock off any spiders or other 'things' before it gets brought into the house. :willy_nilly:

Now I'm sitting here looking at the woodpile stacked nicely next to the woodburner. Damn.... :willy_nilly:

"in fact immediately after the consumation of her marriage to the SMALLER AND WEAKER MALE OF THE SPECIES, she kills and eats him, oh she is delicious (and I hope he was)
such power and dignity, unhampered by sentiment,

you get my drift, I love the Black Widow Vincent Price monologue (although I cant find the WHOLE thin on youtube)

"Please dont touch the displays little boy....oh cute"

YouTube - Alice Cooper - Black Widow clip, w/ Vincent Price

I think it's also only the female redback that is poisonous and the male is harmless, dont know if that's true also about their cousin, the black widow?
