I loved it! I really did! I fully expected to hate it, but I didn't. :)

To me, they followed too closely to the original, the actors did more poorly, I can appreciate a remake but put your own fingerprint on it, know what I mean? Could be worse... a person might remake Casablanca, lmao!!!

How come no one mentioned Taxi Driver or Cape Fear for Robert, other classics.

Tom Cruise (though I usually HATE him) in "Magnolia"

Phillip Seymore Hoffman in pretty much everything he's ever been in.

How true, and very true about Cape Fear etc for Robert.

What about Sean Penn??? That dude is brilliant.

I can't stand looking at him, but Leo Di Caprio IS a good actor.

Why Christina Applegate has never won more awards is beyond me....

Heck, Will Smith is a FINE actor, too.

And don't get me started on James Spader, John Cusack, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Kathy Bates! :D

I LOVED Julia Ormond in 'Sabrina' and 'Legends of the Fall.' I wonder what's happened to her?

Mary Stuart Masterson was fantastic in 'Fried Green Tomatoes.'

I will never, ever tire of watching or listening to Christopher Walken. The man is a genuis, as is Johnny Depp.

Morgan Freeman always delivers, too.

Great thread, Margey! :thumbup

I like Julia Ormond very much! I wonder about her too. *shrugs*

Oh my gosh!! Christopher Walken is freaking awesome! I like Johnny Depp because he is a lot like Walken, a shape shifter. They disappear into their roles.

Morgan is just flat out great!! Doesn't matter what he does. :)

Thanks Grin! :)

The 90's version of Sabrina made me want to rip all of them to shreds.... they destroyed that classic :|

That's what my mom said after 5 minutes and she made me turn it off.

Street car named desire had a fantastic performance by Brando, bravo.

Yes, yes, yes!!! I like that film much more than "On the Waterfront", which everyone always lists first. Streetcar, WOW! So amazing. He's at turns sly, cruel and even pitiful.

Ahhhhhhhhhh yes Morgan Freeman.....in every picture he ever did. What a wonderful actor.

Bite your tongue! No one should EVER touch Casablanca! NO!:mad

Cape Fear was on the other day. DeNiro is so frightening/threatening. OMG! I have a hard time watching that one, because it's scary, but his performance...WOW!!

I've never seen "25th Hour", but I think Edward Norton is a terrific actor.

I didn't see Magnolia either.

Yes! Philip is just fantastic. What depth he has. Never the same performance twice.

Ha! I hadn't thought about "Angel Heart" in a long while. Scary film and yes, they were both wonderful in it.

No arguments from me PJ! All excellent perfomrances. William Holden isn't mentioned very often anymore, but he's is one of the greats in my book. Stalag 17 a classic!

Penn is brilliant and DiCaprio is so surprising sometimes.

The other two do too much lighter/comedic fare, so they get overlooked. Will Smith has given some very fine performances, even when he's being funny. Comedians don't get any credit.

Steve Martin in "All of Me". One of the best performances ever, but because it's comedy and physical comedy at that, he was shunned that year.

Nicholson in Chinatown....

can't forget Jack....

Jack!! He doesn't turn in a bad performance, ever. :thumbup
