You think they care about you?

Ok, I've been mulling this over for quite some time. The fact that certain substances are illegal in America, looked down upon and labeled as narcotics. While other substances, that are just as bad and maybe worse, are massively sold to the American public. I'm going to name a few of these substances that are sold legally in America today that are unhealthy and dangerous. Fast-food is horrible, what percentage of America is overweight? I cant remember, the number keeps rising. Alcohol is one of the worse! What does it do to your liver? Your overall health? How many car accidents involve drunk drivers in one year? I don't know....the number keeps rising. Cigarette anyone? One of the leading causes of death in America. The people are so addicted you can raise the price and still get the same sales numbers! Sounds like a drug to me. Ever heard anyone who smokes and has not had a cigarette in 24 hours? Sounds like a crack head to me.
All three of these substances can be detrimental to your health, if not fatal to your life! Why are they legal? If I can drink a beer, eat a greasy burger and have a smoke...why cant I smoke a joint? Is that so much worse than these substances?
So in my opinion, the government will only legalize something they are able to tax. They don't care about you, they care about your pocket book. They aren't clearing our streets of the horrible drugs that plague our community, they are protecting their investments.
This is what I think anyways...

I can't see why it would be so hard to tax cannabis. They could make more money doing so and cut down the cost of arresting, prosecuting and jailing people for cannabis offenses. I personally believe this is all about the vote. Legalising cannibis would get the hypocritical people who shout out of their arse about drugs while puffing away on a fat cigar and downing their whisky, up in arms and loose the politician votes and power.:mad

yeah......its not like you can grow a tobacco plant and make your own smokes that would even taste remotely close to a tailor made one.
And you cant just easily make homemade booze. (well i know its possible but i would want to hasstle with it)

however, you can grow a pot plant in your closet and with the right nutrients it can be the stickiest of the icky.
Thats probably it right there boomer. The fact that they cant tax it all is the ONLY reason its still illegal.

I think pot should have been legalized way before booze. I mean you never hear of a guy who got all stoned and killed his wife and family.
Yes accidents do happen due to being high but not even close to as many as alchohol causes.

kinda a noodle scratcher.
And hells no the government doesn't give a shit about our self-inflicted ailments like lung cancer and liver failure. Ever seen boys in the hood?
remember that part where that dad points out that there is a liqour store and gun shop on everycorner in their community? Its cuz the government wants them to kill eachother so the lowering of property value can stop and they can put a nice white community in there.

Im sure thats the kind of thinking some politicians have. Heartless money grubbin fuks. haha.

You watch too much TV.

haha, sure. Seeing as how its a black movie based around the black american culture.

That is not a representation of the black american culture. No wonder everyone outside the US has a warped mentality towards Americans.

That movie is about a specific neighborhood in LA, nothing more, nothing less.

well true its set in a LA neighborhood, but it has subtle themes to it aswell man.

the film also deals largely with the seemingly unstoppable violence that plagues urban life. Also how a strong father figure can benefit ones decisions.
but The main theme in the movie is to "increase the peace" and is shown at the closing credits.

I dont have a warped mentality towards americans. and plus, i live a 4 hour drive away from the US border, so i wouldnt say i know nothing about american culture. do you think its really that different than canadian? like 2 people that within an few hours of eachother are gonna be much different cuz an imaginary line seperates them?

im not trying to argue man. but i think i make a good point..........

That does needs an explanation.
(You were waiting for someone to ask you to expound.)

Well I don't know about in America but over here when cannabis first really started gaining popularity it was because it was brought over in the mass migration by the West Indians. At a time when there was a lot of racism in the 50s it was largely seen as a black mans drug and was quite taboo, I think the tabooness of it has pretty much developed from there though it isn't socially acceptable these days to give it being a black mans drug as an excuse! This is why we have other equally irrational but more PC reasons given for why it's still illegal.
