You know what I dont understand?

Mrs. Behaven we have the same law here. It should be our right to choose if we want to wear a seat belt. They don't always save lives. There are plenty of instances where if someone who was wearing a seatbelt hadn't been and they were ran off the road theyd be alive.
 
I believe helmets/seatbelts should be optional. Your only potentially hurting yourself by not wearing one.

Me and a bunch of friends were riding 4 wheelers once and got stopped by forest ranger(whatever they are called) and ticketed for no helmets. We tried talking our way out of the tickets by using the only hurting ourself logic. To bad he didnt agree...that was a quick way to lose $50 bucks.
 
One point they raise is that being in a car without a seatbelt, you actually run the risk of seriously hurting other people if there is a car accident (which is a fair point). Having once been fined $250 for not wearing a seatbelt (ironically, pretty much the only time I never wore one), I know about this :(

All the same, it does go to show (especially on the helmet thing), that there are laws in society that stop us from doing things that hurt nobody but ourselves.
 
Not wearing a seat belt is just idiocy, and the simple fact that we need laws to make people wear them, shows how moronic society can be.

I fucked around with some friends when I was young. Driving some shit box cars around inside a forest. Mate slammed the back of my other mates car. Because I wasn't wearing a seat belt, I went through the windscreen, and landed on the boot of the car in front. Thankfully we weren't going too fast and I only ended up with cuts, bruises, and a slight concussion.

I'm not a cop. never been one. But I've helped out at an accident where a headless corpse was removed from a car. Headless because of the seatbelt.

99% of the time the seatbelt will save your life.
 
PT you're friends are idiots. If you drive rationally and don't around you won't get into accidents. Your statement is null and void. It's people that fuck around and that don't follow driving regulations that force us to have manditory laws like this. But then again the driving instructors aren't any better.

We were kids, obviously we were stupid.

Thinking that only other people make you wear a seatbelt is idiotic. You can quite easily have accidents without the involvment of other people...
