Is my irritation justified? A guy got at me to do some graphic design work the most recent was a for a music festival. I'd a flier promoting an after party. I get a notification that their picture has changed and when i check it out it appears to be a flier but it's not the one I created...

And when I asked if that was the one chosen I get a message from the guy who gave me the work telling me to cool it on the comment. I was in no way insulting. i just posed a question, I go to the event to delete said comment and it was already gone.

This is the one i created...

As I told him... My quality of work is much higher...

Since I don't know what was said I won't say either way.
But as someone who is wanting to do this as a business, making comments to a client about another persons work being poor is in very poor taste. Most businesses don't want to have someone do work for them that is willing to put down others work.

And I don't want to do work for someone is is asking others to do work also.. I'm still getting paid apparently but if i wasn't thats a waste of my time. Who goes to multiple designers for the same project? Choose one designer. if you got at me you obv. like my work.

LOL time to learn more in the ways of business it sounds like. Companies, many times, will go to multiple people for the same job and then pick the final project they like best or that suits it best.

Personally, as long as I got paid, I wouldn't give a flying fuck. I guess some people do work for a sense of achievement rather than money though so horses for courses really.

Well, I'm no business major... But I dunno that still seems a bit shady to me.

Personally, I think yours is better. The client on the other hand must have had a reason they did not use yours. I would not really sweat it. You can't win 'em all.

You were wrong to comment on the other guys work. You're right to be frustrated but find another avenue to express it, that's very unprofessional

You don't need to be a business major to successfully run a personal business. I would suggest you educate yourself if your goal is to do this as a career.

Not particularly. It would be shady if they didn't pay you, but since you're getting paid for your work, there's nothing "shady" about it. They hired multiple people to do the same job, and then chose the design they liked the best. Publicly commenting the way that you did would make me far less apt to hire you to do work for me in the future, as it was completely unprofessional and disrespectful, regardless of how you may have worded it.

:homo:

One rule to live by is that treat customers the same way you expect to be treated yourself..

To be quite honest, it was an honor to be selected to do a design and you should have looked at it that way..

Chalk it up to experience and next time thank the person for his business.

This is also very true.. Never trash anyone else's work.. It's not professional and also says you thought the person's choice was a bad one..

You basically lost a customer who might have a very good reputation and word of mouth might get around that you trash talk people..

Word of mouth is your best friend and you don't want to lose credibility because you got paid and they decided to use a different art work..
