I like eating meat too much to go completely vegetarian. I do have days when I eat only vegetables, but that is not all the time. I love vegetables, but I wouldn't be able to eat just that all the time. I gotta have my meat.

I am so back and forth on it for myself.. for others, totally for it if you're healthy.. as with anything. I think at the moment, I'm more for destroying the commercial meat industries (actually, almost all of the big food corps). Take away the unhealthy aspects of our diet and you take away such a massive portion of the issues we all face today. Not just with our bodies, but with the world. I eat as cleanly as possible. My meat is happy and healthy before it hits my plate (my biggest problem with eating meat.. it was happy and healthy, but the alternatives are, not eating meat or an unethically raised animal. Neither appeal to me). No, the big food industries may never go down.. they rule the world after all.. but vegetarianism isn't the only way to go about health. Many get their foods from a grocery store.. how is that any more healthy?

I don't eat much meat as it is, but I do enjoy it from time to time if I'm in the mood for it. The problem isn't meat itself.. we're carnivores acting like carnivores, there's nothing wrong with that. The real problem is the corrupt industries behind the meat. The treatment of the animals and the filth they're made to live in. Not to mention the chemical soup that's hiding in your slab of cow. Almost everyone eats unhealthy these days considering even the earth it's grown in, let alone the factories and laboratories. Your choice is just as valid as mine. I believe it's only a problem when you don't care what you ingest and don't look into every food you buy. You might as well be saving for your future big illness or killing that cow with your own bare hands if you don't. Same for the vegetarians who eat big industry foods.

If you're happy and healthy, great. I respect your choice very much. The more animals saved the better :)

I can hardly imagine one single meal without meat. Veggies are lovely but they don't make me feel like I've had my meal even if my belly is full of them. I just feel something is missing. Can't do without meat for more than 1-2 days, doesn't matter if it's a sausage, fish or steak. Nothing would convince me to drop it, even health concerns.

I done it once for one week many years ago, but then lost too much weight so i had to stop. For anyone looking to shed a few pounds i recommend going vegetarian for a while coupled with some exercises - the weight will melt off your body in no time.

As much as having a vegetarian diet helps your body, it's kind of too late for me to go vegetarian. Though I couldn't avoid eating meat at times, I make sure that I regulate my meat intake. I guess you can't force yourself to go vegetarian just yet since your body will still have to get used to the diet. Gradually shifting from an all-meat diet to part-meat, part-vegetarian is a much better alternative than going all-vegetarian.

I've tried many times and every time it has ended in failure. I really do want to be a vegetarian, but I love meat too much to give it up right now. Maybe, just maybe I will be able to stick to it, just not anytime soon.

Hey, it's okay. Some of us have more trouble getting started than others. Many simply just don't know how to start, etc, or are aware of what they necessarily should be doing. I'll leave a few links for future reference should you decide to give it another shot. I found that it helps to have support and engage yourself with other people who are vegetarian, even if only online :) If you like meat a whole lot, and don't mind good tasting soy or wheat subsitutes, you're in luck because Boca http://www.bocaburger.com and Gardein http://www.gardein.com have an awesome selection of alternative meats that taste just like the meat you are used to :) You can maybe even try these while you're eating meat, see what you think! :)

http://www.chooseveg.com (Good resource for the basics! Lots of good recipes and how to's)
http://www.veggieboards.com(All vegetarian forum. Good resource for support!)
http://www.vegweb.com (Lots of hearty vegetarian recipes! I can't get enough of this site. Seriously, everyone, meat eater or not should use it :))

I am just wondering if no one condemns wolves, lions, tigers etc. for eating meat why shouldn't humans eat meat?

Why would we? They do what they need to do in the wild to survive. However in our modern society, at least where I live, we have access to a wide variety of plant based options, so we don't need to eat animals. Simple as that. Wolves, lions, and tigers also aren't the ones building huge factory farms to confine animals in, fatten them with hormones, load them with antibiotics, and then mass slaughter them.

Yep definitely going to stop eating meat, hey chocolate has no meat, ice cream has no meat corn chips have no meat :jk

The last thing we'd want is for someone to become a junk food vegetarian. Certainly I eat vegan icecream, chips, etc, from time to time, but you gotta make sure you have hearty meals :)

What makes you think we eat vegetables all the time? Eww, even I would say no if that's what living vegetarian entailed. In reality, vegetarians eat a wide variety of foods, like fruits, mushrooms, grains, seeds, nuts, and yes of course vegetables. On a bigger scope, think of all the apples, bananans, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, pasta, rice, corn, millet, oatmeal, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, quionoa, cashews, almonds, peanutbutter, and of course the obvious carrots, tomatoes, sqaush ( I love squash soup), potatoes, etc. There is way more but that's just a brief mowdown. http://www.chooseveg.com Many vegetarians also choose to eat meat substitues like Boca http://www.bocaburger.com or Gardein http://www.gardein.com. I think gardein is the best and I recently just had their chickn' sliders that taste just like KFC snackers. I can't stress enough how much everyone should at least try these once in their life :)

Veggies don't do it for me either, which is why I usually have something more filling like rice and beans mixed with tomatoes, carrots, squash, corn, green beans, mixed in a light dressing. Tofu also seems to fill me up as well as seitan (wheat protein) :) Usually grains also do the trick. But yeah just veggies alone are low in calories and high in fiber so they just pass right through ya haha.

Sorry that happened with you. It's important to eat probably even more than you normally would as a meat eater because of how plant based foods pass through your system quicker. I'm still the same weight (actually a little more) as I was before I went vegan 4 years ago. Variety and filling meals are important :)

Haha, no, no one is every to late to start something new. Look at bill clinton! lol. But yeah, that's what I mentioned before. It's better to work at it gradually as your system has to adapt to the new way of eating and if you just go for it all at once, often, though not always, people usually say they have a very interesting cleanse with their colon xD

I do realize that vegetarians eat more than vegetables, but life without meat entirely would be too difficult for me. I would have to mentally force myself to live that lifestyle and that's not something I want to do. Thanks for telling me about those boca burgers though Vegany. Those actually don't "look" too bad. I'll definitely will consider trying those (seriously).

Woohoo :) If you are in the USA, they should be available at most common grocery stores, but not guarunteed.

I had onions and green peppers in my omelet this morning. That is as close to vegetarian as I get. Just butchered 2 cows and will do 3 pigs Thanksgiving week. I like my ham and bacon.
