I think most people still have moments of racism or racist thoughts. I don't see that going away for many generations.
I know I have had moments where I see someone and a racist thought goes through my mind. And that actually surprises me since I am about the least racist person you'd meet. So I think it's in the back of our minds, but it's how we conduct ourselves with other races that show our true selves.

I've dated other races, to me it's always been about the person, not their race.

I don't have a problem with dating outside of my race, my ex hubby is half mexican, therefore my daugther is a 1/4.

However this discussion came up recently amongst my mother and several of her friends at a dinner party. She said she would rather see me come home with another woman on my arm than a black man. I was astounded. My mother in not the racist type but she said when it comes down to interacial realtionships it's not her cup of tea. I on the other had would not have a problem with my daugther bringing home a black man. As long as he treats her right, I don't see the difference. My ex on the other hand would have a heart-attack.

I kinda think a lot of people like to talk like they're not racist, but they have their reservations. That might or might not be happening here iono.

A lot of people say they have no problem with skin color but still avoiding the group as a whole because they've bought into the stereotypes or are unaware of the ways that they are racist.

Many people are still quite racist. The majority of people are racists in ways that they don't even realize. It's usually pretty small unconscience things but it's still there.

So true.

The amount of times you hear the following:

"I'm not racist, but...." and then say something completely racist.

I'd be interested in hearing the reasoning of the two people that voted no. Just curious.
I'm one that voted no. And that's just because men of other races don't appeal to me. Hey, it's happened once already for me way back when, but who knows if it'll happen again. Some men prefer blondes over brunettes - same thing here for me - I just find myself attracted mainly to white men. It's more of a preference as opposed to racial reasoning.

I want to strangle those people! People who say "I don't mean to be offensive, but..." also go in that category. It's something extremely offense 99.6% of the time.

I think predjudice is normal amongst all species.

Racist attitudes are ignorance and can be fixed. Not having a desire to date someone of a different race/culture isn't either one to me, it's simply a matter of who we are attracted to, and that is hard to control.

You are simply attracted to certain traits.....Hell I don't get along very well with blondes....doesn't make me a bad person.

That's usually a religious thing. I've been told by many many jews that their parents said the same thing.

my parents raised me to love everybody. I had friends of all races, and most of my family members are 3 or 4 different races. I grew up mainly having an attraction to Latinos, I just have an attraction to them that I really can't explain lol. But I have dated White and Black men b4.
Then I met Victor, my husband, who is Mexican and we have a beautiful multiracial son.
When Victor first told his mom that he was dating me and we were moving in together, she was REALLY upset...
because I'm not Mexican. My husband was the first person in his family to date and marry out of his race. But now I am very close to his family.
it shouldn't matter what race you are or anything... it's the love that counts.

I voted one of the no votes. First one, actually.

I don't see anything wrong with it, it's just not something I could see me doing.

I have friends of all sorts of races, and now that I think about it, I have dated people that weren't white. It just never occured to me they were a different race.
