A Harvard educated lawyer who taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago and lives in a multi-million dollar mansion in Hyde Park. Hell no, he's just your average Joe, no elitism there.:rolleyes:

It's very convenient for your position to ignore his up bringing. My understanding is that the majority of his money was the result of a book deal, writing the "Audacity of Hope" as part of a multi-book package. I thought this was stuff you guys revered, self made people?

The point his how can anyone who is a mega-million dollar mogel, try to paint their competition as elite? It's completely self delusional or it's another case if we accuse, the morons will believe.

I think you confuse wealth with elitism--the two are not necessarily the same. McCain's wealth comes from his wife, not from him. But you can't get any less elite than McCain--the guy spent years in a POW camp living one of the worst lives imaginable. Palin grew up in an all-American life and has an all-American family. She has got to scare the shit out of you--you won't admit it, but I know she does. She can "connect" with a very very very wide range of people (just about everyone in the family has something in common with her)--something none of the other three people involved in this campaign are able to do. Hell, he husband is blue collar and a member of a union, she has a special needs kid, she has a son in Iraq, she's a woman (obviously), she took on big oil (and won)--I mean the Republicans couldn't have scripted this thing any better.

I guess it depends on what kind of "elite" paint brush you guys want to paint Obama with.

Elitism is the belief or attitude that those individuals who are considered members of the elite — a select group of people with outstanding personal abilities, intellect, wealth, specialized training or experience, or other distinctive attributes — are those whose views on a matter are to be taken the most seriously or carry the most weight; whose views and/or actions are most likely to be constructive to society as a whole; or whose extraordinary skills, abilities or wisdom render them especially fit to govern [1]. Alternatively, the term elitism may be used to describe a situation in which power is concentrated in the hands of the elite.

Other than "wealth" the term elite seems to be a positive one- outstanding personal abilities, intellect, and specialized training or experience. Sounds like another case of the Republican Party twisting a term for their own benefit? Thanks another code word for me list! :D

The thought of Palin as President scares the heck out of me, not a disparaging remark, sheis not currently qualified. And if McCain had not picked her, most in the Republican party would not know her, much less recommend her for a VP slot.

LOL! :D:24::24::24::24:

Ok, this ought to be great. What in the world makes you think that Obama is more qualified than her? Seriously, the man has DONE NOTHING except write a couple books about himself--he has no experience running anything. Palin has run a town and a state. While she may not have a lot of experience she has more than Obama.

And interestingly enough, her history does in fact support what she has stated.

If you look her up, she is well liked amongst her constituents, and even feared by a few, she's a pretty well documented reformer.

Her approval rating is HUGE. Consider that Congress' approval is like 20%. People are fed up with the status quo and this woman is anything BUT status quo. I really wish she was running for President--but perhaps in 2012 or 2016 if McCain lives that long! :D

That's incredible isn't it--and if you take away the HUGE advantage Obama has with the media promoting him, she would easily have outdone him. But even that is amazing that the VP candidate can draw virtually the same audience as the Presidential candidate.

I agree. She is a woman I can support. Smart and strong. She seemed like a real person and not a stuffed shirt. Not pompous or arrogant. A real breath of fresh air.
BUT..... I bet Hillary is P I S S E D !!! She soooo thought she had it in the bag. Surprise.
After Bush's miserable attempt at everything - I did not believe a Republican had a chance. Now though things look pretty good. I liked what I saw and heard through both conventions. Go Rep's

I do like self made men but that doesn't make them any less elitist. And don't kid yourself, Obama is a card carrying elitist, I know because I'm one and I see him at the monthly meetings. :D ;)
