Coz I am the biggest wimp when it comes to things like this...


I'm hitting up my bosses for a payrise at the end of the day.

I have been way underpaid for the work I do, and now, with Xmas coming up, its time to speak up.



If I was asking for someone else, I'd have no trouble, but because its for me....I'm pissin myself.

I have gone over and over how to approach them, but it never sounds right.

So...just wanted to ask for "Good vibrations"

I'm not actually asking..I'm virtually TELLING..(but in a nice, diplomatic way);)

I can safely say they would be up shit creek without me here....

If I DONT get it...I'll be leaving....right before Christmas:p

It still is...I love it...I'm just not getting paid enough for the work I do.

I often have to "live in" and manage the whole park.
The first time they gave me a cash bonus (which I thought was great....at first)

The last 2 times I have gotten nothing. I also look after their 2 dogs when I'm live in, saving them 100's of dollars in kennel fees...

I have to be available 24 hours to get the night bell and deal with anything that arises, yet I only got paid for the actual office hours.

I worked out my bonus...and it is the equivalent to less than $20 a day extra...for a park manager...

AND...I get paid the same as the housemaids and gardener...yet they have NO stress, and NO responsibilty...

I just have to work out how much to ask for....

I'm guessing at least another $5 an hour.
 
In the US the employee has no bargaining power right now.

If it is still rough where you are I would ask them about the compensation for the extras and how that should be dealt with in the future as they set a precedent which they now are not compensating for.

Any idea why the person in your position before you was either fired or quit?

Some businesses will use you and abuse you. Others want some continuity and respect employees

There was no one before me....its alwasy been family managed.

Its Mum, Dad and the daughter who own/manage it now....I was originally employed to do the daughters 2 days off.

Mum knows nothing about the running of things...and the daughter has never done it before either...she has no idea on the software, the reservation system...the residents rates, the by laws...anything...I've virtually taught it all to her.:willy_nilly:

They had other live in managers they were partners with before, who they fell out with and bought out.

I KNOW they appreciate me...I honestly just dont think they realise, and once I point it out...I'm hoping they will.

If I leave, they will NO WAY be able to get anyone to live in when they go off on their little jaunts to Bali and Melbourne and Perth, and Melbourne again....especially for what they paid (or DIDNT pay ) me
