Winnipeg gets an NHL team back

I've been to lots of games. I'm really pissed. So are plenty of others in Atlanta.

One of the main sports coumnists here called Bettman a liar and a weasel in print yesterday.

You're preaching to the choir here. The trick is trying to get the owners, who keep extending his contract, to realize what the rest of us know.

schedule was released today....yeah saw that it said...Winnipeg NHL...how vague...well at least it didn't say Winnipeg/Atlanta/TBD

I heard there is going to be a major reworking of the league divisions the season after next

They are talking about 4 divisions and a more balanced schedule where you would have at least one home and home with every team in the league

two divisions with 8 teams
two divisions with 7 teams

sounds like a start although I would like to see at least 4 games played with every team

Just saw it on TSN as well that they'll probably be called the Winnipeg Jets. I approve. It would just be wrong to call them anything else.

I think it's wrong to call them that... I thought the same thing about the Cleveland Browns, except that in the Browns case, one of the terms of the existing Browns moving to Baltimore was that they rename the team and the rights of the name would stay with the city. The rights of the Jets name transferred with the Coyotes to Phoenix, but now that the league controls the Coyotes, they had the right to transfer it back to the new Winnipeg franchise.

They should have been called the Moose or something along those lines. They don't have the lineage of the previous Winnipeg franchise and shouldn't be associated with that name. But that's just my opinion on the subject.

I think the Moose is a stupid name for a hockey team, to be honest. :ninja When I heard they were going to name their AHL team that I just laughed. Then they went and got themselves affiliated with the Canucks and it was all downhill from there. :surrender
