Like Brujah said, I think this is the reason why most people lie about things.

Same here. I don't have it in me to lie. If I try I look/feel so guilty that it's fairly obvious I'm not telling the truth so there really isn't any point to me lying.

You do indeed :)

I try not to lie. I do find it easy when I dislike the person... ottherwise I can out myself accidently.

Why not? Certain things I do aren't anyone elses business. If I have to lie to them so be it. I think the issue with lying is blown out of proportion. This reminds me of that debate we got into about telling children Santa Claus was real LOL. i could see this going that route.

Santa is real ! What a bunch of el toro poopoo.

I don't lie. Not anymore any way. I did it a lot as a kid and I found it only got me into trouble. I stay honest with everyone and it makes a world of difference.

I don't lie. Mostly because I'm incapable of it. Anyone who knows me knows that I start to stammer over my words, my face gets all red and hot, and I can't look the person in the eyes. When I was younger I was like a little pathological liar, and my mom decided to teach me a lesson by not trusting a word that came out of my mouth for close to a year, I think. Scarred me for life. Tough love, and all that. But it really sank in, and I don't lie. I just don't really see the point. Obviously, I don't just blurt out the truth without a regard to other's feelings. I am a pushover...I don't like upsetting people. Kind of that whole...if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Truthfully, though, there are a lot of people out there that really just need the truth told to them. And I'm not one to cover up the truth.

"Tell me lies tell me sweet little lies....

Oh no no you cant disguise..."

Anyway...I go with whoever said that "If you say you never lie/have never lied, you're lying";)

I try to be honest as often as possible...but to say I have NEVER and WILL NEVER lie, would be bullshit.

I can't believe this forum is so full of honest as the day they were born peeps...I feel dirty somehow.:ninja

I am honest to a fault. If you don't want to hear the truth, don't ask me.

Being a brutally honest person isn't easy. You have to choose your words carefully - or, if you don't care for the person you're being honest with, just put it out there.

Also, I'm the kind of person who will tell someone if their fly is open... if they have a booger or if a tag is sticking out of their clothing.

Everybody lies... tis true. And believe me, I can understand lying to someone you don't care for and don't want to deal with to get them out of your hair. But I still think you're better off being honest with them, because most people can't handle the truth anyway so it's likely they'll leave you alone once they know how you really feel. I have tested this and it really does work. :24:

What I can't wrap my brain around is why people lie to people they care about. Some of you have said to avoid hurting their feelings, but I think you're just avoiding dealing with them thinking negatively about you. It's not really about their feelings, and more about you avoiding the issue. And ultimately, they'll think a lot worse of you once they found out you lied.

Lying is just ugly. I hate it. I have caught myself in lies hoping to get people to like me better. Elaborations mostly, and when I have done it I kind of pity myself for being so pathetic lol.

In terms of relationships, I try never to do anything I'd have to lie about later. If I'm keeping my nose clean, what's there to lie about? Why not just put it all out there?

Generally I struggle with what I should omit. "Is saying this stupid/harmless/ detail of my day going to be in any way damaging?"

I've seen it a couple of different ways (I'm sure we all have) from both sides of the coin. I know for me that I tend to hold my tongue on an issue until I feel clear on it. I'll usually attempt to tell those I care about, hey I can't / won't talk about this now, but something is up. Which I am not sure if it is really living rather than just non communication ( which is where I think alot of living stems from, not talking and not talking leads to it just being easier for someone to avoid the issue, or claim " I don't know/remember").

I guess one of the things I am thinking is that the verb living can be applied to almost any form of misinformation both intentional and not. Some items can look past myself as it can be just a simple mistake, like I was moving too fast and just forgot to keep everyone up to speed. The others however are harder in my mind to justify.

not dishonest in a way that cheats anyone...but I will admit that I have no problem with white lies that don't hurt anyone or their feelings...especially when it concerns one's appearance on how they look in something or being asked an opinion on something delicate in nature, trying to be that understanding soul and that person to lean on rather than judging. I believe in karma...and in treating others as you would like to be treated and not hurting people's feelings...which I don't always see prevailing in this day and age.

I actually think I've slowly developped an addiction to lying/whatever that thing is where you're addicted to lying.
I don't mean to do it, and it's usually with dumb stuff.
I think it's cause I didn't have that many friends in highschool and I feel like agreeing will make them friends with me, which is stupid, so i have no idea why I continue.
I'm currently working on stopping.
Example: Did you see that movie X? I loved that scene where blah blah blah happened.
Me out loud: Yeah, good movie.
Me in my head: Never seen it.
