I recall getting gas in 2004 for 1.99 a gallon, which was a mere 90 cents more than 01.

There's a lot more than the war having to do with even that small increase. Demand is up. Supply is getting lower and lower. Pessimists say by 2040ish we'll have no more oil, optimists say by 2050. In reality, that's only a ten year difference. Prices will really start to soar then.

A mere 90 cents???? So a 90% increase is mere??? Did your salary increase 90%??????

Last I checked, 911 happened in 2001 and thats when gas prices started to really soar. Up untill then gas was anywhere from $0.95-$1.15 per gallon. It has more than doubled since then. If you can honestly tell me that you think the war has nothing to do with the prices of oil, then I can say that you are honestly blind. The day of 911 I was working and I had to fill my work truck up. within 1 hr of broadcasts of the attacks you could absolutely NOT get into ANY gas station in the entire town. I say we tap the resources we have here in the US. I doubt that would stop the rise in prices but I guarantee you, if the overseas suppliers see that we can live without them prices will level off. Busch knows this too but coming from an oil family, he doesnt want the prices to level off. Just my 2 cents.

I recall getting gas in 2004 for 1.99 a gallon, which was a mere 90 cents more than 01.

Now, go get your history books or whatever you want to use for reference and look. Look and see just how long it took prior to 911 for gas to increase in price by $.90 per gallon. I guarandamntee you it hasnt risen like that in a 4 year period ANYWHERE in your history books. Coincidence?? I dont think so. Im not saying that this war is over oil but you cant tell me that oil has nothing to do with it.

Uh...... It was october of 1973 and it was all due to war in the middle east!!! DUH!!! Do you not see a pattern here?!?!?!

My history books must have missed that part, what war in the middle east was going on between the US and xxx country?

BUT ANYWAY... what part of my post about the war not being the only reason did you not see? Gas inflation has been around since before middle eastern wars.

Cost of production, supply and demand, etc. Also I'd like to point out to you that between 2001 and 2004 was a 3 year difference before I recall the 90 cent jump.

That can't be attributed to the "war in iraq" arguement.

Not between xxx country and the US directly. OPEC decided to cut off supply to anyone who supported Isreal in thier fight against Egypt and guess what? We got cut off.

I will agree that war in the middleeast is not TE ONLY reason that gas prices are rising but at the same time, you cant deny the fast that it is a huge factor at the present time.

Honestly, that had nothing to do with war itself then. That had to do with international alliances and support vs what we want to pay at the pump.

But if you look at gas prices now, do you ever think it'd get back down to 30 cents a gallon? Nope, cost of living goes up, Cost of production goes up. Demand goes up, supply gets less and less.

There's more to gas prices than war.

Did someone say Israel???

How about that....a common denomenator!! I honestly doubt that the average American realizes how much Israel plays a role in this war.

The problem is that the politicians are allowing the supply to become depleted by not letting us tap into the resources that we have right here at home. If they would quit playing political games and just finish it already, we could all go back to living our normal lives. Any fool knows that gas will never be 30 cents a gallon ever, but it wouldnt hurt if the prices would at least level off. Of course, gas probably isnt too hard on your pocketbook anyways seeing that you drive a Honda and all. :lol

sorry but I think this isn't necessary. I told you in my first statement that I don't know a whole lot about it. Only what the biased media has to say.

Youre right, that looks worse than what I meant for it to say...

I'm really not trying to attack. Sorry about that.

:agree

There are other countries, leaders that we need to look at, but are we too afraid? Oh, wait no of course we're not afraid...we're the US of A!!! We've just spread ourselves thin over in Iraq...what will we do when Korea starts nuking? There is a readily credible threat...yet they are untouched. Iraq is still questionable...and we use all of our resources. I just dont see how there is anyone that could be for this war. Of course I'll always support my country and the troops, and I would never treat any soldier the way they were treated after Nam. But something is wrong with the agenda of our commander in cheif.

after reading all about this about gas prices and stuff, and the more recent posts about nkorea... there is one point i would like to say that i dont think anyone else has said yet in this thread:

war influences technology

when war happens, one side needs an upper hand to win, so technology is pushed to the next generation of itself...

i think iraq is just a playing field, for when, after we deal with nkorea, we will then spawn our governmental ideaologies (sp?) into other middle eastern countries, and soon will have control over them as well...

iraq hasnt been able to create a draft for their new government that ive seen as of last night. the media said that there were some a couple of issues, one dealing with the distribution of money from oil... shouldnt be hard... put it into an international bank account for the country of iraq... so when the time comes, they will revolt and we will have to remove all of our soliders and equipment that we can recover out of the country.

i just thought of something though. we were attacked, london was attacke, egypt was attacked, they arent messing with israel yet (even though it presents a perfect opportunity), but the terrorists are attacking people of the governments who messed around in iraq... (well, duh, me = :tard)

and thats about all that i can think rightnow.. its 8.37 in the morning, and ive been up for about 15 mins :D

It's not that we're not worried about Korea, but Korea is backed by China who we DO NOT want to get into a war with.

I just saw on FOX News that gas prices in Isreal and other middle east countries are averaging $0.12 per gallon.... :wtf

They don't have to pay to ship it across the world, which probably helps a lot. And I also doubt their gas is as heavily taxed by the government as ours is
