White Terrorism
By Juan Cole 10 January, 2011

Juancole.com
Jared Lee Loughner, the alleged assassin of Federal judge John M. Roll and five others and attempted assassin of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), was clearly mentally unstable. But the political themes of his instability were those of the American far Right. Loughner was acting politically even if he is not all there. He is said to have called out the names of his victims, such as Roll and Gifford, as he fired. As usual, when white people do these things, the mass media doesn’t call it terrorism. (Update: A canny reader in comments pointed out that if a Muslim organization had put out a poster with American politicians in the cross-hairs, and one had gotten shot, there would have been hell to pay.)

It is irrelevant that Loughner may (at this point we can only say “may”) have been a liberal years earlier in high school. If so, he changed. And among the concerns that came to dominate him as he moved to the Right was the illegitimacy of the “Second Constitution” (the 14th Amendment, which bestows citizenship on all those born in the US, a provision right-wingers in Arizona are trying to overturn at the state level). Loughner also thought that Federal funding for his own community college was unconstitutional, and he was thrown out for becoming violent over the issue. Lately he ranted about the loss of the gold standard, a right wing theme. He obviously shared with the Arizona Right a fascination with firearms, and it is telling that a disturbed young man who had had brushes with the law was able to come by a semi-automatic pistol. He is said to have used marijuana, but that says nothing about his politics; it could be consistent with a form of anti-government, right-wing Libertarianism. I don’t think we can take too seriously the list of books he said he liked, as a guide to his political thinking. They could just have been randomly pulled off some list of great books on the Web, since there is no coherence to the choices.

Guns And Terrorism: Two Unasked Question
In Tucson Mass Murder
By Bill Quigley

http://www.countercurrents.org/quigley100111.htm

Two important questions that should be asked in the light of the Arizona assassination spree are (1) how does a mentally unstable man who was kicked out of school and had run-ins with the law buy an assault weapon? (2) why is there so little talk of terrorism?

Obviously there are terrorists of every race, why even bring race into this?

I think sane people are now realizing that it's not only a handful of Muslims who are terrorists but terrorists
are also found in their lines.

Here are some quotes from the article which are quite self-explanatory and should serve as food for thought
for the White people, especially the non-Muslims!

We already put more of our people in prison than any country in the world and we spend more on our military than all the rest of the world together. How fearful must we be?

Apparently when a mentally unstable white male is accused, terrorism is not the first thing that comes to mind.
When a white male is accused of mass murder, terrorism is not much talked of rather it becomes a terrible tragedy but not one where race or ethnicity or religion need be examined.
if the accused had been Muslim, does anyone doubt whether this would have been considered an act of terrorism? US Muslims could have expected increased surveillance and harassment at home and the places where they work and worship. They could have expected a Congressional inquiry into the radicalization of their people. Oh, Representative Peter King (R-NY) has already started that one!

you dont have to convince the british about non muslim terrorists because we had to contend with the I.R.A. for decades

but the simple fact is that nowadays most terrorists are muslim

That's not really true, anyone who uses violence or the threat of violence to get what they want is a terrorist, when most people hear the word "terrorist" they picture someone with dynamite strapped to their chest and setting off car bombs and shit, but really it doesn't have to be like THAT to be terrorism. Honestly I consider Most goverments to be terrorists.

I agree with this assessment. But that would mean this ass-hat in Arizona that just shot up the place was not a terrorist. He was a psycho killer.

I agree with that, that man was just psychotic, I wouldn't think of him as a terrorist.

Most terrorists are not Muslim. More terrorist acts are committed by other religious extremist groups than Islam. Islamic terrorism is exaggerated. I'm sorry, but if you believe all terrorism comes from one group only you really don't know who you are living with in this world, and you are surely letting yourself be fooled by the media.

Lately, in my own country, England, although the minority of extremists who associate themself with Muslims have committed the worst acts of terrorism, the most common terrorists seems to be middle class, animal rights activists. They dont sell papers though, scary, beardy, Muslims do.

All killers are phycho's, including the suicide bombers and other terrorists. But it amazes me that not a single efficacious ''pill' has been invented yet to treat them during the last continuing 10 year-long war??

Terrorism was there much before 9/11, the Tamil Tigers started it all and they were not Muslims but Hindus!!

Not all killers are psychos, some are brainwashed into believing they are doing the right thing.

This guy was just a psycho, not a terrorist.

Isn't acting under a false belief also an act of terrorism???
Isn't military brainwashed to occupy someone elses land and kill its people??
Don't the locals have the right to defend their territory from foreign invasion and atrocities??

I recall a guy in my younger days who was weak and when bullied by a strong guy he would squeeze his balls and bite him viciously to get rid of him! In ordinary terms his act would amount to foul (in organized pugilistic sports/fight) but I think he did the right thing as he could do no better. Try to evaluate war situation in this perspective and realize that no one wants to die or commit suicide without a good reason and that is in no way connected with mental deficiency or brain washing or looking forward to meeting 70 houris in the hereafter!!
