When did you start to feel like an adult

I was sort of forced to grow up really fast. When CPS made my mom leave, my dad couldn't do everything himself. I basically became the only parent to my younger brother, who is only 18 months younger than I am, but I was forced to become responsible for both of us basically. Six years later i basically almost completely support myself on three jobs while attending college while also partially supporting my brother.

I felt like I was an adult when I turned 27. My former opinions have changed as compared to when I was 26. They still keep on changing, and hopefully for the better. That means I am maturing as I'm supposed to be. I actually now notice that the mentality of my friends seems to be a bit childish for their age.

The moment I finished high school at about 16, I started feeling like an adult. And I expected people around me to treat me so. You can't blame me as I was already envisaging college life as I had made my grades to go to college. And college is not for kids.

I felt like an adult early in my life. I was about 16. I just wanted to work and make money so I can pay my way through life.

Now at 40, I feel less adultish than I did at 16. I'm glad, too. I want that youth feeling again and I'm getting it with my hobbies.

My body doesn't always feel like a kid though lol

I totally relate to that. I experienced my first feeling of adulthood after getting my first job because I had to oversee my financial situation independently.

After my high school I went to another country for studies. That was the first time I left my house and all of a sudden I was an adult.

Honestly even at the age of 35 I don't really feel like an adult. I just feel like a big kid who goes to work five days a week and come home to play video games, and work on my hobbies. Sure I pay bills, and I buy my own groceries just like any other adult does. My wife helps with the taxes, so I've never actually dealt with that side of adulting much. I honestly don't think I'd ever feel like an adult in my life because I'm young at heart and I don't see that changing any time soon.
