What's the big stigma with turning 30?

Its not really a "crisis", but maybe an epiphany. Society forces to think we want to have a spouse, 2 kids a big house with a giant mortgage and whatever else. Maybe it just takes some a long time to realize that isn't what they really wanted and need to act quickly to change. I'm not saying this is the way to go, but a woman cannot begin to explain how a man thinks, nor can a man begin to explain how a woman thinks.

A mid life crisis is considered a legitimate thing, more than just a colloquialism. If it's a mid life epiphany, it is not called a crisis...the person would leave the family for the new life they realize they want. Very little crisis involved for that person (just for the family left behind). A crisis is that chaos, not knowing what one wants or needs; taking wild stabs at finding it.

I disagree with the last sentence though, really limits the reality of human understanding.

I agree with you that a midlife crisis is a legitimate thing, I just think the term gets used incorrectly, a lot.

Its ok to disagree. Seriously though, do you really think a woman can understand what is going on in a man's head? According to most women, they think men think about sex every minute of every day. All I'm saying is that obviously, actions are louder than thoughts, but that doesn't explain how the action came to be from the thoughts. I cannot explain how a woman goes about solving a problem no more than you can tell me how I go about solving the same problem. We think differently. Hell, each individual thinks differently for that matter.

In my opinion, men and women think as differently as one man to the next man and one woman to the next woman. I think, if you get to know someone well enough in honesty (which is not easy to accomplish I know), you can begin to understand how they think regardless of their sex.

People say they are getting old... but you know there are a few truths that need to be told to them.

1. Sorry but your gut/boobs/ass has been hanging over your pants/waist/down to your knees for some time now.. you dont suddenly start hanging/jiggling when you turn 30
2. On most women 30 is the sexual peak! Men, indulge in it! :D
3. Men: You've turned 30 and youre going through a mid life crisis? - get you a car, motorcycle, etc.. but think of it as a gift for keeping yourself alive so long, enduring life and its troubles. Think of it as a treat for your hard work, dont bitch and whine about it its a birthday and if you're lucky you will have many more to come!

I'm 33 and the closest thing I've got to a mid life crisis was getting a newer fancier car (upgraded from a 2002 civic to a Audi A4) :D but that was more of the growing up thing, I wanted a dad car, not a young punk's car :D

Age is nothing but the length of time youve spent on this earth, nothing to loose sleep over, and if you value yourself, it should be considered an accomplishment, not a sad situation

I've been dreading turning 30 since my last birthday, and it won't happen until next year. For me it's more looking back on my first (almost) 30 years alive and realizing that I'm nowhere near where I wanted to be. I haven't accomplished the goals that I set for myself, or am anywhere near being in a place that I'm happy with yet. Turning 30 is just going to be another reminder of those things, and a reminder that I'm really not getting any younger.

That's why I'm with thornless and I'm just going to stay 29 forever after my birthday in a month.

seeing that 30 is in the rear view, I could and did care less about age, I used to think it would bring some sort of wisdom but it is just a number.

TBH.. I think the reason why I hated 30 so much is because I thought I would be more settled.. things would be what they should be.. etc.. And when I was coming up to my birthday this year.. it freaked me to fuck out thinking.. I am no better off than was I at 18 and no way to stop the shit show that I am currently in.

25 actually hit me harder than 30.. but that was because the thought of being a quarter century old was crazy.... My birthday was almost 2 weeks ago and it was no big deal to me....just another day...
