What school lunches look like in 20 different countries

I love how they went balls-out crazy for pictures of french, japanese and korean food, and only managed one extremely non-representative pic of UK lunches. Dammit! I never ate anything like that!

That's awesome. Was living in France amazing?

to be honest it was awesome, but it wasn't life changing or anything - the French are pretty normal people...

None of the School lunches I've had have looked anything like the ones they showed for America, to be honest I think they only posted the absolute worst looking ones they could find, lunches at every school I've been to were actually pretty good.

ours down here look exactly like the ones pictured if not worse!

The USA's had to look the least appealing... *sigh*

Edit: Actually, no way in hell will I eat Korean cafeteria food.

or the african food!!

Have you ever watched Jamie Oliver's show?

yep and I agree :)

Thank goodness I am not in school, ours just look yuck....but to be honest, the ones we had looked better than that :)

Also the nutrition of my day was better than what kids eat now.

Oh my goodness! Did you see the entire fish on the plate in China! I wouldn't even know what to do with that thing!

I have never eaten cafeteria food when I was in school. It never looked too great. Now I feel the need to take daily pictures of my students lunches and compare them with the ones this article posted. Haha.

That last picture of the US lunch with the fried chicken, carrots, and potatoes is exactly what my school lunch looked like. The potatoes were flaky and scooped out with an ice cream scooper.

At least at my school you had a few options such as doughy pizza, soup, or this horrible tasting subs if you didn't want the entree.

what fred was saying about hamburger, then pizza, then chili, etc.

The school boards (At least down here) will buy a bulk of ground meat a week and then they have to use all of it that week.

Or the next week it will be a bulk of cheese and they have to use all of it that week so you get things like cheese soup!!!

It just depends on the school district wealthiness, etc.

Yea, they did that stuff at my school too.

If they bought beef, we'd have spaghetti, tacos, taco pizza, etc for the rest of the week.

Oh, and the mac and cheese at my school was horrid.

Our school had fixed meals for each day of the week.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday was Pizza and chips.
Tuesday and Thursday was pasta. I think Tuesdays was Macaroni Cheese and Thursdays was Spag Bol.
And there was a selection of sandwiches, crisps, doughnuts, chocolate and fizzy drinks.

Then Jamie Oliver happened and Pizza and chips was off the menu and every day it was limp salads, sandwiches and unidentifiable, congealed stuff.
