To be so flippant and disrespectful to the symbolic representation of the very country that gives you the privileges, education and quality of life that you so enjoy. Whatever shortcomings you think your country has at least show some respect for it. You have a lot to be thankful for that others would gladly trade places for in a heartbeat. From reading his posts here I'm pretty sure AEF is very passionate about his country. And flying the flag upside down doesn't mean he's not appreciative.

Technically speaking, the upside down American flag is not an insult, it means "Country in distress".

I am not saying I agree with it or not, but America is not a flag, it's a country.

Badboy, I believe it was mainly used out at sea, or maybe on land (not sure) in days gone by as a visual means of communication from a distance to communicate (in the case of ship) that your vessel was in distress.

Those who display the flag inappropriately upside down, otherwise than for which the signal was intended, I would venture to say that they very well know that it is a disrespectful manner to so do.

I know full well that America is not a flag nor is any country a flag, but a country's flag is the symbolic representation of a country and it is internationally observed that it ought to be treated with respect.
