What do you think of a "Get if Off Your Chest" Section?

People generally are not permitted to air out their difference here in public. Now I see the positives of that, but I think there are also negatives. That is, I think if moderated properly, members can get things off their chest (don't worries ladies--not talking about Mulder getting off anyone's chest! :cool ) and hopefully if not resolve their differences at least put it behind them. Typically they won't go PM or if they do nothing gets resolved. This might better be a hidden section in the VIP area. The reason I think it better than PMs is there are people to offer opinions and help moderate the differences. Now mind you I'm not talking about a section where people are allowed to just flame each other out--I'm talking about a section where people are still required to be civil but allowed to air their gripes to each other?

What do you think about a "moderated" forum of this type? Bad? Good?

I vote not to be the moderator of that section. In all honesty, I don't want to read other people's differences. I like it the way we have it where issues can be PMed and the rest of us are none the wiser. I know personally if I had an issue with a member, I wouldn't want to call them out on the open forum.

Thats just my .02

not a good idea....would end up as a slanging match

Well that's why it would need to be moderated. If it turned into "slanging" match (don't know what that means) then it would be shut down. The idea is to allow people to resolve their differences not enlarge them. Obviously, that's not going to happen with everyone. But I am 100% confident that more often than not the acrimony among members could be resolved by proper mediation.

Is "slanging" the same as "shagging" each other in Englander? ;)

:homo:

Is Mulder just talking about bras?

Hmmm...me thinks you're on to something!!! :24:

Well, no, but now that you mention it--a section where the ladies were free to take of their bras would be an excellent idea as well. Quite sure Skyblue would not object to that!!! :24:

We have that...it's called the "Girls Room"...no men allowed. LOL

Mulder should be allowed since he's not really a man--he's a god!!! :cool

Oh...no gods, either. ;)

Is that why you usually go in in pairs or small groups? Unhooking a bra is pretty tricky.

Yep...that and to kiss and fondle each other, of course. Sometimes a pillow fight breaks out...but only when one of us spills cold water on the other's white tanktop. *shrugs*

 :homo:I agree with Jersey on this one.... I come to have fun not to witness a car crash...I've seen enough of that shite on other forums....it just ruins things for most of us who dislike conflict. Seeing people bitch back and forth trying to one up the other with some fantastical angry wording has got to be the lamest thing I have ever witnessed....and have been apart of.

We used to have a stickied leave a message for a member thread and it was gotten rid off in the end because it ended up as a huge bitching about people thread. To be honest, I could see this going the same way.

does it really need a moderator? let 'em beef it out! if it's too much, don't post in there or don't read it. no one forces anyone to respond to vulgar posts. i think it sounds like a good idea! a place where you don't need to censor yourself and you can still belong to a great forum without having to walk on eggshells about your feelings/opinions/beliefs.

and ya, like i said, if you don't like it, don't read it or don't reply. I think it should be like that everywhere tho personally.. lol

I remember that thread.

I don't know how it came about but it was a bad idea from the start, a place for people to stretch their e-muscles? That could only end badly.

Also, I think people are always more reasonable when they sort differences out privatley through messaging - there's less need to flaunt that e-muscle, I believe.

I have to agree with Jersey. There was a section that was loosely moderated on political hotwire that had that same sort of undertone to that section, and it ended up being nothing but a flame fest section that just brought up more anger and caused issues on the rest of the board.
